Psychedelic therapy could 'reset' a depressed brain... (https://www.bbc.com/news/health-56373202)

A powerful hallucinogenic drug known for its part in shamanic rituals is being trialled as a potential cure for depression for the first time. Participants will be given the drug DMT, followed by talking therapy. It is hoped this could offer an alternative for the significant number of people who don't respond to conventional pills for depression. Psychedelic-assisted therapy might offer longer-term relief from symptoms, some researchers believe.

A growing body of evidence indicates other psychedelic drugs, particularly alongside talking therapy, are safe and can be effective for treating a range of mental illnesses. This will be the first time DMT is given to people with moderate to severe depression in a clinical trial.

I have my doubts about such a treatment. Seems they're treating a 'mental' (for lack of better term for mood conditions) conditions with the causes of other mental issues.

Better living through Chemistry.

There is a direct correlation between the socialists "Happiest Countries on Earth" and the % of the population using anti-depressants. That is actually a true fact.

Harvard medical school did similar trials using psychedelic mushrooms for "end of life" therapy. As I recall most of the participants found that they were no longer frightened of dying after the sessions.
As far as DMT goes, I personally don't really care for it, too "chemically" the trip is intense but only lasts for 10 minutes or so, even if you take enough to "break through." They were calling it the "business man's lunch" for a while...

A friend was dealing with depression after a fairly messy break-up, and his therapist actually suggested he try MDMA as something to help him break out of his funk.

MDMA was created for this issue as well as marital disconnect. It worked until the government got involved...

Micro dosages of psilocybin (as in 1/10th of the dosage required to have a psychedelic effect) have been shown to help in all aspects of functionality within the brain. Everything from helping anxiety and or depression to better focus and mental acuity.

Three very important things for health. Even to fight depression.

Probably, but kind of hard to tell, he was already a big fan, so he looked at it as permission... regardless he broke out of the low point, the actual reason is not really clear...

If it works it works. If it is a placebo effect, who cares?
