Monday nites game looks good. Maybe we will have the Cap back by then too. Jets got Vick this week. Plus the Giants should have an easy one with the Redskins.

Miami's owner says he wants Cowher or Gruden for a Coach. So I take it this next year they will be back.

Skins gave the Pats all they could handle...nice to have a good Monday Night match up for a change.

Yeah.....but if you were listening the Redskins even beat the Patriots last time they played. It was the only team that Brady had not beat. No matter how shitty the Skins were they always beat Brady-N-bunch for some reason. Until this year. Now he has beaten every team and I think in their own house! Which will put him up there as another All-Time Great. Did Farve do that?

The NFL suspended Harrison for one game following his helmet-to-facemask hit on Browns quarterback Colt McCoy (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/24060/) last Thursday, making Harrison the first player to miss game time as a penalty under the league’s revamped policy on such collisions.

Harrison’s agent Bill Parise said Tuesday afternoon Harrison has already filed an appeal and expects it to be heard later this week by Art Shell or Ted Cottrell, jointly appointed by the NFL and the players’ association to hear such cases.

The Steelers were the only team in the league to vote against the new collective bargaining agreement in August, citing the lack of a proper appeals process regarding fines and suspensions as one of their main concerns.

Now Harrison will need to rely on that process to have his suspension reduced. The odds of a successful appeal are small. Shell declined to reduce the two-game ban given to Detroit Lions (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/24060/news) nose tackle Ndamukong Suh (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/23977/) after Suh stomped on an opponent’s arm last month.....snip~

Not sure how I feel about this. You guys would know better. Are they protecting the QBs too much?

Conley
12-14-2011, 03:39 PM
They are definitely protecting the QBs too much but this was a deliberate attempt to injure by a guy who's done it before and has the rep to go along with it. Tackling is part of the game, head butts IMO are not. I watch the NFL because I want to see the best compete, and if they're sidelined with concussions every week it's not nearly as exciting.

Conley
12-14-2011, 03:40 PM
If Cap'n were around, we'd probably get into a healthy debate about it. I agree with most of what he says, and I think the Steelers have been unfairly targeted but it's hard to defend when you've got this guy asking for it week after week.

If he's done before then a hefty penalty is due. Plus, a concussion is no f'n joke.

"Though there has been an emphasis to play by the rules, the Steelers have been fined at least 13 times for illegal hits this season. Safety Ryan Clark (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6210/) was fined $40,000 after being flagged for helmet-to-helmet hits in successive weeks".....snip~

They have been hit pretty good. Yet they are ranked second in defense for the league. Even tho Monday Nite's game is a good one. It really doesnt affect either teams chances for the Conference.

CL is right.....hit a QB below the knees. Its a penalty. Hit a QB Up high Chest to helmet.....it's a penalty. Tackle the QB and drive hit into the ground.....its a penalty. Hit a QB that is running on the sidlines where it should be legal to plow his azz right into the benches.....It's a Penalty. Tackle a QB and he tries to get away and you grab the Jersey. Clothesline tackle dragging him down.....it's a penalty. Of Course there is the desperation mode of the QB too. Throw a bomb 50-60 yards down the field and hope for an interference call and get the ball down where he threw it. It has been getting worse all along.

Because now they penalize the defender even if he throws himself into the air to make the tackle and has no control over where he is going to land.

This all got heavy when the wuss Troy Aikman won his Two Superbowls. As he suffered 4 concussions. Then ran to SI and some other magazines crying about.....you guessed it. A QB is going to get killed due to the hits they are taking.

Yet Aikman would run along the sidelines and instead of step out.....run down the line. Hoping someone would hit him a hard shot and then he would get the penalty.

Once again all this safety stuff. In the best interests of Safety is why whatever reason comes along. Kinda like our Country giving up it's freedoms for security.

If it is such a concern.....then give them some fricken armor to play in! Don't get me wrong they needed to do something due to the concussions. Althought the Pro' is not what really brought all this down. Look at how many young kids in Highschool or college have died. Even in practices.

Yeah, I remember a couple of heat related injuries and at least one death this past summer. Regarding the concussions in the NFL part of it might be that these guys are just getting bigger and stronger.

Not that these QBs are little guys. Many of them tower over me and outweigh me by almost a 100 lbs. That said, they're getting hit by frigging locomotives.

Conley
12-14-2011, 10:42 PM
Well it's also that they're running toward each other...the masses and the speed lead to huge collisions, and the skulls just don't have any kind of defense. There are many helmets they could use to prevent this stuff (some have padding on the outside and look ridiculous, but they are effect). The NFL is very secretive about it. It's really bizarre...I can find some articles in the next couple of days if you're really interested.

I have had the NFL Channel on and all their announcers are asking the Question of.....if Tebow will have another Miracle Moment against Brady and the Patriots. Like 4 different guys have said the same thing.

Next up they will start comparing the Tea-Bag to the US Olympic Hockey Team and their Miracle Moment on Ice. Which then will drag all of those guys out of the closet again. Here they are 20-30 years later out to catch a brief moment in the lime light and take pictures with Tebow. Then those female sports announcers will be given some work and told to go talk to the old hockey guys. Showing up to ask them some dumb questions which have nothing to do with hockey or football. Thats when you will see that moment where they look.....smile......wave to the crowd. Turn around and wave tot he crowd.....and when they put the mic in their face. Right on cue. I or we, would like to thank all you great fans and for all your support.

Knox out for the Bears, bummer

Knox took a vicious shot from Seahawks defensive end Anthony Hargrove (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/5616/anthony-hargrove) while scrambling for a fumble at the end of a 17-yard catch over the middle. Down on the field for approximately 10 minutes, Knox was immobilized by the medical staff and later carted off the field on a stretcher.
While lying on the stretcher, Knox appeared to be responsive and moving his hands.

What up bruthas.....I got Denver and NE. 17-16 Patriots.

Do you know how hard it is to watch a football game without being able to yell at the TV! We went up and spent time with my mother and watched the Bears game with her. I couldn't yell at any plays, interceptions, the defense, nothing. I mean I was glad to be with my mother and watching it with her and all. But it was like being in the Twilight Zone. Then I saw the score to the Packers Game.

Plus they had moved my Mother to a room with another person it since she was having those panic attacks. So that woman had a couple of her family members there too. I think my mother knew besides my fidgeting around in the chair and biting my lip.

Hell cant believe NE and Den scored this much before I got home. NE just got another fumble and driving again. Within the 5. NE TD. :icon_cheers:

Get this: Holmes catches a TD pass from Sanchez. Good stuff but a celebration when you're down 28-9 is not in order. Not only does he celebrate he gets penalized for it. Imbecile.

It pisses me off no end when they do that. The ultimate in me-first behavior. A good coach will give a guy an earful for that kind of BS...it'll ruin your team.

Haha, I can just imagine you wanting to curse your brains out at that horrible loss. Hey, at least you can be happy about the Patriots being up.

So who do you hate the most out of Tebow, Cutler, Lovie, and the French?

24-16 now. Plus NE just punted and Den fumbled again so NE now just kicked a fied goal. 27-16 end of the first half.

That was a terrible mistake by Denver. You don't even need to catch the ball, you're going to down it and go into half anyway. I wouldn't have even had a guy back there, just run a punt rush.

NE driving again. Who would have thought KC would beat the Packers. Plus Indy winning. The Big showdown will be Atl and NO for who takes their division.

What usually happens to QBs that run with the ball? TD NE again! :icon_cheers:

Conley

Denver is getting killed, not sure even a Tebow miracle can save them this time.

KC had Orton starting at QB, that's why they beat GB. Proven winner. No idea why Denver cut him instead of trading him, especially after trading to get him...oops!

That's what I said before. That's on e thing I like about the NFL. It doesn't seem as predictable to me as some other sports do. For example, you know KC would never win a best of 5 series against Green Bay but it doesn't work that way in football.

End of the season is tough too. It's whos healthy and has momentum. Who can win all thru Dec. Even tho they are building more Domes.

That was a Nice hit on Tebow. Did you see him get up staggering. Told ya! Go ahead keep running that ball. A few more gang tackles like that with the pop to the helmet and he will be sitting on the sideline.

Does Denver have to play Oakland again?

Conley

He definitely got rocked on that play.

Nope, they split the series with Oakland this year 1-1.

Damn I missed the game and slept until 12am. Guess I will have to check football scores.

Ugh.....6-9 for this week going into tonights game.

But believe it or not the Local media is still trying to say the Bears have a chance to make the playoffs. Delusions of Granduer. Can't believe these retards are trying to tell Bears Fans that shit.

Btw I don't hate Tebow.....I just don't go for all the hype about him. Big deal he can run with the ball. Yeah.....okay.....what do most rookies do when the come into the NFL. Duh.....run the ball! So it does matter that he cannot read defenses. That he cannot throw those timing patterns along the sidelines or with the inside slant. QB option doesn't work in the NFL and all these sports announcers know it. So pretending like all these NFL teams have to make all these special defenses all due to the Teabg. Is a crock full of shit.

Proof is when the "Bag" gets blitz and eats it. Due to him not having enough experience to know how to pick the blitz up. In addition to that forcing him to the right will always affect the way he plays in such a way that he is nothing more than an average QB. Technically if he would not have won the Heisman and would have come out of college with no name recognition. He would be sitting on a bench somewheres.

Denvers problem all stemmed from Elway. Fault out with the one coach. Fall out with Cutler. They get a new coach and he figures orton aint shit and so to Elway. Then they drop him. Now he is back to his winning ways. He had a winning record with the Bears too. not to mention he is a QB that for some reason just has the knack to beat GB. Albeit in close games.

Yeah, the Chargers looked great last night. It was over by the 3rd Q when it was 31-7. No idea where this was all year but Norv can take a hike.

I think Tebow will get better with practice, especially reading defenses. He studies film a lot and he missed 50 practices in the offseason (because of the lockout). I definitely understand being sick of the hype. That's part of why I don't want pregame shows or ESPN much at all anymore.

Plus all these announcers and so called experts all say something different except when on the media band-wagon. Then it's just something so that they are noticed. Kinda like Chris Carter on Fox and and whats his name on ESPN. Wide recievers talking all this shit about defenses that they know nothing about except for what they read. Talk about offense and what you know not about what they don't know. makes look stupid every time.

No doubt Tebag will get better with experience. Will learn those timing patterns with recievers and whatnot. Learn to pick up blitzes and to read defenses. Just like any other QB in the league. Like Cam Newton. he is another one they were harping about. Then you hear that all to familiar line. The Rookie Mistake!!!!!

Conley

Sure hope the Steelers put the smackdown on the 49ers. My only concern is that SF is at home. I don't see Sf shutting down the Steelers run game.

To be honest tho.....it is looking like the AFC are the Stronger Teams. Patriots really dont have a defense. but they can score and score a lot. At least 21-34 pts a game.

Damn what a shitty week I went 6-10. Can't believe Pittsburg lost that game. Guess it did matter not having Harrison in there.....huh? Moreover IMO I think it was the plane trip out there. I am willing to bet if SF would have had to fly to Steeler Country it would have been the same story with them losing.

Big Ben shouldn't even played. He could barely move. Rest his azz up. Who cares if he wants to play and can prove he can play. They need him to be able to move around at times and run with the ball. Coaches job and he should have put Batch in with the second half. Plus it would have thrown SF off with them being prepared for BR.

Da Bears losing 4 in a row. Never thought I would see it in my lifetime!

One thing about injuries like Ben is they often get worse with the delays. Normally it's just halftime you have to worry about the other two breaks definitely hurt as well. Two reasons - one, if any kind of numbing / painkiller med is administered, it can wear off by then and two, if you've warmed up a sprain and gotten the tendons loose they get tight again. I'm not saying SF did anything intentional just that I suspect the delays hurt Ben.

The announcers were saying the same thing. They also said the pain killing injection is a one tiem deal. You can't (or shouldn't) do it twice in a day.

Fucking Steelers, played like shit.

Honestly, they didn't want that game or the AFC #1 seed. They played like a team looking forward to the end of the season. I don't think the rats are the most motivated team in the NFL but they want the playoffs more than the Steelers do, that much is evident.

Conley
