There was always something compelling about those colorful uniforms. Waterloo loomed large in my imagination as a child as it it does in the western imagination generally.

That said, I don't think this particular battle mattered all that much. It's interesting as Napoleon's last hurrah but what if he had won? What then? I don't think France could have fought another major war against yet another European coalition. The Russian and Austro-Hungarian forces, for example, had not even arrived yet.
I also think the Prussians saved Wellington's army at Waterloo. IMO, the French would have won and probably pretty easily. It's funny because the battle is often portrayed as a major Anglo-Allied victory.
