Chicago Bears (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/chi/chicago-bears) receiver Sam Hurd (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/10194/sam-hurd) was arrested in Chicago on federal drug charges on Wednesday night, and the criminal complaint against him describes Hurd as regularly dealing large amounts of drugs in Chicago.

Hurd allegedly attempted to purchase cocaine and marijuana from a supplier in North Texas, the location of where the case will be adjudicated. He was arrested by undercover agents at a Chicago steakhouse Wednesday night and was due to appear in federal court in Chicago Thursday to face a charge that he did "possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more" of cocaine.

This guy wanted to be a kingpin. I think he watched Scarface a few too many times...really, what the hell was he thinking? You're already making millions, you are easily recognizable...unbelieveable! And what would JC say??

I take it he won't be suiting up for this weeks game.....huh? "What" he caught like 6 passes all year. Now we know why. What a moron. No one said football players were the brightest. I mean look how many years Marion Barber played in the NFL. Yet put a football in his hand and then all of a sudden rational thought leaves his mind. Hey run with the ball stay in bounds and we win.

Did it happen like that......nooooooooo! The 10 year Veteran.....gets the ball and WTF does he do Play Caveman and doesnt think forgot what all said in a few seconds. All it took was putting a football in his hands. Then the brain went to mush!

Yep, that was awful. Then when he got the ball in OT he couldn't even keep the ball in his hands. Very strange. Maybe he's trying to help out his old team Dallas? I don't think so but it sure was weird.

Hurd didn't play a lot but he did get paid. Check this out:

After all, Hurd signed a three-year deal worth $5.1 million, including a $1.35 million signing bonus!

Guess that was seed money for his drug empire.

Bears released him.....

“Sam has asked me to address one point, with respect to the rumors that Sam has been supplying drugs to other members of the NFL, out of respect to the NFL, out of respect to teammates and out of respect to other players, he 100 percent denies that allegation,” Greenfield said. “It is patently and totally false. It just didn’t happen.”
League spokesman Brian McCarthy said the NFL was closely monitoring the situation. Asked about a report that authorities have a list of NFL players with ties to the drug case, McCarthy said: “We are not aware of such a list.”
.....snip~

The rumor I heard on TV was that over ten NFL players are also involved. I don't think that's very likely though. They're thugs but they're not organized thugs.
