It's Twinkies comeback day at Wal-Mart, three days ahead of the snack's anticipated return nationwide.Wal-Mart is rolling out the first batch of new Twinkies in 1,600 stores on Friday. And by Sunday, Twinkies will be available in 3,000 Wal-Mart (WMT (http://money.cnn.com/quote/quote.html?symb=WMT&source=story_quote_link), Fortune 500 (http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune500/2012/snapshots/2255.html?iid=EL)) stores, according to company spokeswoman Veronica Marshall.

Wal-Mart is selling Twinkies in an exclusive collectible box that says "First Batch" on the packagaing and the new Twinkies tagline: "The Sweetest Comeback in the History of Ever." They cost $2.98 for a box of 10.
"These are the first production of Twinkies since production restarted," Marshall said. "Each box that arrived to us contains fresh Twinkies and not frozen ones."

I'll be calling all my area Wal-Marts today and seeing if any of them will be participating.

I don't like them unless they're wrapped in bacon and deep fried. I'm a health food nut. :D

Oh man, I love those too. Every once and a while I'll buy a small convenience store size pack. Six in a pack is just a teaser, but if I bought the big box like you posted, I'd surely eat the whole thing. I love the powdered ones too. The Dolly Madison or Lil Debbie (not sure which) version that stores have replaced the Hostess brand with suck.

The whole box....that would be me, too....except I'd go into a sugar coma, LOL! Nope, he's very controlled, which I admire. Half the box, then the rest goes straight into the trash can.

Funny, up until my late teens I liked sweets, but at some point it changed and now I eat sweets very infrequently. I almost never have dessert, but occasionally when I do get a craving - like for lemon meringue pie, I have to have it instead of my meal, because I just never want anything more after my meal. I rarely drink soft drinks, so my sugar intake is limited to my morning coffee for the most part - well I do like wine, though it has to be zero on the sweet scale.

This is very good.....cuts your danger of developing Type 2 diabetes waaaaaay down.

Of course, if you're predisposed to it via family history, etc.....you're gonna get it anyway. But it has been proven that excessive weight gain through a bad diet CAN contribute to the development of Type 2.

A guy in the snack cake area at my local Kroger told me that he thinks the Sara Lee snacks that they created to resemble the Hostess snacks (Twinkies and Cupcakes) and hurried out onto the shelves as soon as Hostess went under, are MUCH tastier.

I don't know, can't have them. But I can console myself.....I'm SURE AS HELL looking forward to Wednesday (my 60th birthday).....because on my birthday, I get my annual piece of Hot Fudge Cake from Frisch's Big Boy (I think they call it Bob's Big Boy out west). My most favorite dessert ever....I can't wait!

What I have found interesting about Walmart, and the American obsession with cheap, is the ad in which presumably normal people with jobs and an education shop there. What gives? Walmart has become another symbol of partisan divisions, if you dislike unions you love Walmart. Rather odd how easily (some) consumers are influenced and believe this is all for the greater good. On one hand communist China is bad, on the other hand cheap China products are good. Offer a bargain and they will come running.
