MIAMI -- Cornerback Antonio Cromartie, asked if the New York Jets gave full effort in Sunday’s season-ending 19-17 loss to the Miami Dolphins, took a thinly veiled swat at the offense.

“Maybe on one side of the ball,” Cromartie said.

As the leader of that offense, Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez has to take that as an insult. But, in reality, Sanchez took it from all sides on Sunday.

His $45 million receiver, Santonio Holmes, quit on the team in the fourth quarter. Offensive lineman Matt Slauson said there was “commotion” in the huddle, which led to five false-start penalties in the first half.

Even running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who was mostly supportive of Sanchez in his postgame comments, said the third-year quarterback tends to get “down on himself” when mistakes happen.

I read about Santonio Holmes quitting on the team. It looks like the Steelers knew what they were doing when they let him go. It looks like the whole team has problems though, a lot of infighting.

I was hoping to catch some of Ryan's excuses. Could it be Ryan may take a look at another QB? Well either way.....things can't be to bad. D.....is here early so he survived the night when his roomy got home.

Ryan has denied responsibility and said he didn't even know why Holmes wasn't in the game. I think the OC will be fired.

There are also a lot of rumors about the Jets trying to get Peyton Manning since the Colts will probably take Luck with the first pick.

I read about Holmes briefly this morning. Poor form.

It didn't seem like things could get much worse for the New York Jets following their season-ending loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday and the ensuing drama surrounding wideout Santonio Holmes' end-of-game benching.

But then the calendar turned to Monday.

In a locker room scene that appeared to boarder on the surreal, Jets players gathered their things and took out the frustration from a disappointing season on the local media.

The Star-Ledger reported that multiple players refused to talk to reporters -- including the normally chatty Darrelle Revis -- while Bart Scott yelled at a photographer.

According to ESPN New York, Scott also gave the photographer an obscene gesture and said, "Get that out of my (expletive) face."

Newsday reported Sunday that it's likely the Jets will cut ties with Scott this offseason. Scott made just 66 tackles, his lowest total since he with the Baltimore Ravens in 2004.

"All I know is I got a guaranteed contract for $4 million," Scott said when asked about his future with the team.

Much like some of his teammates Holmes, who Jets coach Rex Ryan named a team captain before the start of the season, also did not speak to reporters Monday. The Star-Ledger reported that Holmes was escorted out of the locker room by public relations staff.

All of this transpired following Ryan's tearful end-of-year speech to his team, during which he reportedly pleaded with his players to be a team.

"He was crying because he loves us," Jets guard Matt Slauson said, via ESPN New York.

Jeez! There's no crying in football!

 Oh well. I can see how a head coach would be a little flustered after the Jests performance.

The NY Media makes it intense too...but Ryan wanted the attention. Oh well. If he had a decent QB I think they'd be a playoff team every year. That's their biggest problem IMO.

That's NY for you. You don't think Sanchez is any good?

I think Sanchez could get improve with better coaching but right now no, I don't think he's very good. Their running game is also poor but the run and pass work off of each other, hard to have success in one without the other.

You would know far better than I. He seems solid to me but what do I know. I do see how a good QB can really carry a team though. Obviously, the Colts depended a great deal on Manning. I'm sure the sudden change helped lead to some of those defeats but no all of them.

He makes mistakes at very bad times. IMO I'd rather have a QB who is more consistent even if he doesn't make all the throws. The most concerning thing to me about Sanchez is the way he seems mentally to crumble. He needs to be tougher, maybe that will come after being constantly criticized? It's a tough situation. I think up until now he's been babied but maybe one of the coaches needs to get in his face. Apparently he and Holmes had words earlier in the week and then Holmes skipped out on meetings. If Coach Ryan is letting that go on and still letting a guy play then I think discipline is a problem.

Well, after taking those photos for GQ "tough" and "Mark Sanchez" will be tough to use in the same sentence.

Ryan is an obnoxious jackass. It's one thing to be successful and an obnoxious jackass, but it's another to be sub-mediocre and still be one.

I believe in karma to the extent that you reap what you sow in the long run and it's harvest time for the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets.
