A beautiful old volcano. Climbed it back in the 80s. Went with a friend met in graduate school who lived in Tokyo--I was living in Kobe at the time. It took us most of the day to switchback up the lava paths to the top. The top was disappointing, the snow was cool and the oden hot from vendor shacks, but the view was clouded over and you couldn't see much of the world. By the time we got down it was dark and we just made the last train downtown.

I've always thought that Mt. Fuji is one of the most scenic and photogenic mountains in the world, frosting-topped and depending on which side it is photographed from, surrounded by cherry blossoms. I envy you that you saw it up close!
