Even as he became the latest and most senior member of the Iranian government to publicly declare his readiness for nuclear talks, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday lashed out at the West over its tough new economic sanctions that he said have hurt the Iranian people.

Addressing students in the southern city of Kerman, Mr. Ahmadinejad blamed the West for what he called its “excuses” for not restarting negotiations and heaped scorn on the United States and Europe over new sanctions, which target Iran’s oil industry. While they have hurt ordinary Iranians, he said, the sanctions have done nothing to weaken Iran’s resolve in the face of “bullying” over its nuclear program.

“You are the real enemy of the people and are putting pressure on them,” the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency quoted Mr. Ahmadinejad as saying. “I admonish you to pave the right track and do not make any excuses while the time is ripe for negotiations.”

In reading the article, it sounds like the sanctions are having a very real effect on the economy and there are concerns regarding the upcoming elections. Inflation is high and the value of the Rial is at an all time low. My bet is that Iran is just stalling for time as they continue their research.

I thought so too when I saw that this morning but I think you're right about their stalling tactics.

He wants to talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and Obama will talk and talk and talk.

The time for talk is over is what I'd tell him.

I believe we have a thread on what the UN's watchdog reported on what the Iranians already have. Besides enriching up to 20%. These last two months waiting on the EU decision has given the Iranians even more time to amass more.

Now with the EU the Aussies and the UK. The Embargo is set and they were talking about pushing Iran to far into a corner, where they will think that they have only one response left. Although they did say these sanctions were affecting them. They felt Iran just by making threats can also increase the price of oil. Where others will feel the affect. Becuase the real truth is the Saudis cannot make up the difference. The longer it goes with no talks leaves Iran increasing more than they already have. Which leaves us where then?

Because the Suadis have already stated that if Iran gets a Nuke, they will get one. Then Others think Turkey would follow suit and then the Domino affect takes place. So something is needed to be done. Because the past and history shows us that the ME will always have some conflict going on. Which then with all having a Nuke. It will be used.

Obama can't stall talks either. They need something going to get any type of people in there. Something diplomatic that will slow them down or force them to scale back.

To Bad the Persians don't go back to their Own Religion and God. Giving up the foreign and false one they adopted. It would solve a big problem.

Iran at it again...
Iran ready to ramp up nuke program
Nov 15,`12 -- Iran is on the threshold of being able to create weapons-grade uranium at a plant it has heavily fortified against Israeli attack, diplomats told The Associated Press on Thursday, calling into question an Israeli claim that Iran had slowed its nuclear time table.

One of three diplomats who discussed the issue said Iran was now technically ready within days to ramp up its production of 20 percent enriched uranium at its Fordo facility by nearly 700 centrifuges. That would double present output, and cut in half the time it would take to acquire enough of the substance needed to make a nuclear weapon, reducing it to just over three months. Such a move would raise the stakes for Israel, which has said it believes the world has until next summer to stop Iran before it can get nuclear material and implied it would have time to decide whether to strike Fordo and other Iranian nuclear facilities.

The two other diplomats who spoke to the AP could not confirm the 700 number. But both agreed that Tehran over the past few months had put a sizeable number of centrifuges at Fordo under vacuum. It takes only a few days to begin enrichment with machines that are under vacuum. While experts agree that the Islamic Republic could assemble enough weapons-grade uranium to arm a nuclear weapon relatively quickly, they point out that this is only one of a series of steps need to create a working weapon. They say that Tehran is believed to be years away from mastering the technology to manufacture a fully operational warhead.

All three diplomats are from member nations of the IAEA, which is scheduled to release its latest report on Iran's nuclear program as early as Friday. They demanded anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss restricted information with reporters. Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak's assertion earlier this month that Iran has "essentially delayed their arrival at the red line by eight months," is in line with the timeframe laid out by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in September, when he spoke at the U.N. General Assembly. IAEA officials said they would have no comment. A phone call to Ali Asghar Soltanieh, Iran's IAEA representative, went to voice mail.
