This morning I was doing some maintenance on my spices.....throwing out those that were really old, refilling the small bottles on my wall rack from the jars in my cupboard, etc. Usually one of the messier kitchen jobs. I was getting frustrated with the mess I was making; I knew I needed a small funnel, but one with a wider spout to accomodate thicker spices like coarsely ground pepper or Italian seasoning. Then I had a :sign13: moment: how about if I try using one of my jumbo pastry tips as a funnel (the kind you use to pipe frosting on a cake in fancy ribbons or rosettes). Worked perfectly; no more mess! I just have a little cheapo set (I think they were like $2 at Wal-Mart)....I used the tip in the middle as a funnel.

You can make an easy funnel by using a plastic bottle and cutting it off at the bottom of the neck.

I have found Fiji Water bottles to be excellent for this, as the square shape provides some edges to hold on to.
