Since I have been accused of being unkind to Republicans, I decided I would add an article not related to their foolishness. Is it not ironic that the United States' failed foreign policy led to all of this? The end result was a radical government bent on destroying all of Western Civilization through nuclear weapons. It appears Americans still have not learned. Forgive me, I have already begun this thread on a tangent. On to the latest!

Last week, I blogged about protests in Geneva against the Iranian government's expanding program of Internet and satellite censorship (http://reason.com/blog/2012/01/24/iranian-exiles-protest-halal-internet). Taking place outside of Iran (and consisting of what appears to be a fairly small crowd from the pictures in this post (http://www.iranhumanrights.org/2012/01/wrc-geneva/)), the protest was a mostly symbolic act—but we're likely to see more and stronger reactions to what Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei calls his country's soft war (http://articles.cnn.com/2010-01-04/world/iran.banned.groups_1_islamic-republic-soros-open-society-institute-president-mahmoud-ahmadinejad?_s=PM:WORLD) against Western cultural influence in the months to come. This week the Iranian supreme court upheld the death sentence (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/jan/18/iran-death-sentence-porn-programmer)handed down to an Iranian-born Canadian resident named Saeid Malekpour, who was arrested while he was inside Iran visiting his ailing father. Malekpour is charged with "insulting the sanctity of Islam" and "corruption on earth," two regularly invoked grounds for execution in Iran, because of photo-uploading software he designed that was then "used by a porn website without his knowledge," reports The Guardian (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/jun/06/iran-reprieves-saeed-malekpour-porn-accusation?INTCMP=SRCH).This is equivalent to Mark Zuckerberg being put on trial because someone uploaded a nudie pic to his or her Facebook profile.

Yeah, it's America's fault. sir, your anti-Americanism is just getting silly now.

You must admit that the Ayatollah's regime was directly in response to the Shah, who I might add, never would have lasted were it not for American intervention. This is hardly controversial my good sir. Take off your red, white, and blue glasses for a moment and at least attempt to be objective.

Understood. I guess we can blame Britain for all of the problems in the Palestine. After all, it was under their control. Seriously, do you blame a bad day at work on the US too?

Actually both cases are Britain's fault because if they hadn't mistreated their colonies the United States wouldn't even exist!

I have noticed that when you are unable to convey an adequate rebuttal you instead opt to mock the one with whom you disagree. It is an unpleasant trait, and one which I believe you can overcome simply by displaying some focus and remaining on topic. That should not be too difficult for a man who fancies himself intellectually superior. Would you care to try again?

Not at all! You're reasoning is brilliant but Conley's is even better. Whatever the US does is really Britain's fault.

Insulting the sanctity of Islam and Corruption on the Earth.....Hope the Both Shia and Sunni remember the terms. Whoever this person was should have made them kill him on the spot. Taking out as many LE's he could of. At least killing one or two. If not more.

See what makes religious law and all man-made laws useless is when the perp takes hostages and then kills the hostages, then kills themselves. In such an instance the LAW is left without ANY recourse! Left standing there holding the bag and cannot do a damn thing! Made to look useless in front of all! Rich, poor, oh and even the religious zealots. Don't know how to handle it. Other than to come back for more.

You are in essence advocating the act of suicide bombers. Not only are such acts reprehensible but also they have proven to be entirely ineffective. Surely you must reconsider my good man.

Doesn't change the facts that it stops the law right then and there.....Dead In it's Track's!!!!! Useless and obsolete! Especially when there is a host of hostages. Now.....doesn't it?

Ineffective......you must not remember the two guys in L.A. and the bank of America robbery. Not to mention they didn't even take hostages. They just made damn sure that the L.E.'s knew it was going to be a fight to the death from the get go. How do you think it made the law look? Completely ineffective and all says so once the perp goes past the point of no return.

This may become Iran's strategy as well. If you know you're going down, take as many as you can with you on your way.

What happens when you throw a dog in the corner and continue to beat on it?
