Tesla Motors made a big splash onto the electric car (http://www.dailytech.com/Tesla+Motors+Unveils+AllElectric+Model+X+Crossover/article23978.htm#) scene with its Roadster. While pricey at roughly $100,000 (http://www.dailytech.com/Tesla+Motors+Begins+Production+of+Allelectric+Road ster/article11123.htm), the two-seater was praised for its peppy performance, excellent handling, and sleek styling.

Tesla Motors' second entry into the electric vehicle (http://www.dailytech.com/Tesla+Motors+Unveils+AllElectric+Model+X+Crossover/article23978.htm#) market isn't even publicly available yet, but its 2012 production run is already sold out. The Model S is a gorgeous sedan (http://www.dailytech.com/Tesla+Model+S+Officially+Priced+from+49990+after+T ax+Credit+Available+Summer+12/article23568.htm) that ranges in price from $57,400 to $87,400 (before a $7,500 tax credit). The base model has a 40 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and has a 160-mile range. The top-end model comes with an 85 kWh lithium-ion battery and can travel up to 300 miles on a charge.

According to the New York Times, the Model X will be available in three battery capacities (40, 60, and 85 kWh) and will make the sprint from 0 to 60 mph in around 4.4 seconds. Automobile Magazine adds that the Model X will come standard with a rear-mounted 300hp electric motor, but a 150hp front-mounted motor will be optional to make the vehicle AWD (http://www.dailytech.com/Tesla+Motors+Unveils+AllElectric+Model+X+Crossover/article23978.htm#). In addition, the maximum driving range for the Model X is said to be between 214 to 267 miles.

100k for a Electric Car.....I would rather go by two homes fix them up and sell them. I don't care for what they call their wing with the back doors. Plus they are betting people will buy from a common platform. Not at that price they won't.

If you can afford these cars there's no way you need a tax credit. Are you kidding me? Plus just because it runs on electricity doesn't mean it is better for the environment than a traditional car. Many batteries use all kinds of toxic metals that are strip-mined, and if this car lasts 10 years where as a traditional old Honda Civic is on the road for 20 before it ends up in a landfill, which is better for Mother Earth?

Plus I think it said somthing about 3 different batteries. But why wouldn't they put in the best in the first place rather than charging people by how many miles the car will get. Or having 3 different prices separately for each battery that is.

Electric cars dont put out smog - that's a big advantage compared to normal cars

Plus you gotta admit those are cool looking cars, like a Porsch or a Lambo. Those cost 100k too

I wouldn't buy a car worth a 100k ever. Not even if I had a billion dollars.

Electric cars may not pollute. But the plants that make electricity do. Probably more than modern gasoline engines when you crunch the numbers.

Exactly. A lot of those electric plants burn coal. Besides the pollution there's a significant human cost as well.
