View Full Version : Question on Performance

Chris

Hope this is the place to ask. Move if not.

I seem to get a lot of time outs on this forum. I click a link t go to a post or a button to reply or whatever, and the hourglass just spins and eventually I get an error.

Are others experiencing this slow performance?

I have as well. I thought the slow speed was on my end but I guess not. I also get frequent server errors.

Have a great week you all! I do not know how much I can post during the week, as I am a little busy, but hopefully I can catch up on the weekend.

I do believe that happiness is a state of mind and is the closest one can get to heaven in this material world. That state of mind is dependent upon how we perceive this world. Instead of getting angry at that a-hole that cut us off on the road, if we just dismiss it as someone in a hurry, it can help us tremendously.

Just my suggestion for the week. Start or each day thinking positively, and see if that doesn't make your week better! Good luck and best wishes!

Chris

It's not as bad, doesn't time out, but some clicks spin for a while before getting results. To get to this page took perhaps 30 seconds.

It hasn't been a bad as it was. I am wondering if it was due to that hacker group as this week they were hitting everything here in the US. For the record, the "Quick Reply" function has been very clunky so far for me. It's locking the screen up a lot.

Captain Obvious
02-23-2012, 05:23 PM
I think part of my problem is self inflicted. I have and Adobe product - probably Reader that I haven't disengaged the automatic updates function. Did it at work, never got around to doing it on my personal laptop.

Fucking Adobe updates. Nuisance.

MMC
02-23-2012, 06:11 PM
I have the same thing and that Adobe crap is always downloading something. Same thing with ATT. Also I think it's due to even more hosts putting in all these damn Commercials and Ads into the puter.

Already tonight we back to double click on the reply button and I have had 3 screens all lock up and freeze at the same time.

MMC
02-23-2012, 06:36 PM
This is weird.....my settings are set to the right time for my region but the time onthe posts being posted up are saying that the time is like 6hrs ahead of time? I pulled up another screan and says it's two hours behind like i was on Cali time.

Can someone hack this site causing us problems. Like someone fron another site?

Conley
02-23-2012, 06:41 PM
Something weird might be going on. I think I just had that too, but now when I look at the times they're all right. Not sure, I could have been imagining it. Only have one window open so it's not that.

Conley
02-23-2012, 06:42 PM
Nope, not imagining it. Now it's two hours off. Weirdness.

MMC
02-23-2012, 06:45 PM
It just did the same thing with me. Now the times are showing correctly. I know I didn't imagine it as I had two screens up. Also there is like some type of wave of distortion that cascades down the Forums Page. Like when you go into a section.

Plus Like I said before I had 3 screens frozen. It's Never done that before on my puter.

MMC
02-23-2012, 06:49 PM
I just typed a reply on another screen and it froze when I hit the reply button. Hence this post from another screen first.

MMC
02-23-2012, 06:50 PM
Which is why I asked if someone could hack us. Like come in here and have left us something. I don't know as I am not puter literate and get aggravated with this type of stuff.

We have seen that multiple users are still encountering problems and we are exploring alternatives.

Once a final decision has been made, we will notify all users of any expected downtime during the server change. This will most likely occur this weekend, or in the event that our technical staff is not available, next week at the latest.

We are working on the solution and appreciate your patience.

MMC
02-24-2012, 02:18 AM
Thanks Admin.....all I can tell ya is the cascading thing has stopped. That right now while I am on. Nothing seems to be sticking on the reply button. There for a few days everybody was saying they were having less problems.

The other day our ISP was not allowing one to get onto the Net. Althought it was still showing that a person was connected. I have ATT. All thier phone lines were flooded with calls. When I got thru I was asking if it was an area thing. they kept saying it wasnt. But the truth is.....it was. Many around here-(Chicago) were asking if ATT got hacked by Anonnymous. As this has been like the 3rd time within the last month and a half. ATT denies this.....but then they denied that they had an area outage due to whatever as well.

Mister D
02-24-2012, 09:10 AM
Most of it is related to traffic, I believe. I never have problems in the morning. I have a few in the afternoon and a lot around 6 PM.

MMC
02-24-2012, 09:16 AM
I was hoping that this would clear up.....so that the site wouldnt have to be shut down. But it is like you said. As right now there are no problems since I have been on this morning.

Even putting in a Video in the Military Tribute thread I went advanced first. Showed the video was working and not Embedded. Hit reply.....went right thru!

Conley
02-24-2012, 09:24 AM

Captain Obvious

The "quick reply" is still fucked up, for me anyway. If I just start typing in the quick reply box, I can't hit "enter" to add a space, can't see my cursor and at some point random lines above the sentence I'm typing suddenly start appearing and I can't get back into the sentence to continue it - or copy it, the copy function suddenly stops working. I just post and edit to continue at that point.

Well, folks from Maine are sort of an... odd bunch - and I mean that in a sort of complimentary way. I associated with them very well. They have rednecks, but they're a far different breed than you see south of the Mason Dixon.

That explained two things also - why a guy from main would have a cat as an avatar.
