I read the other day that chameleons don't change color to blend into their environment for protection but as an aggressive display to scare predators.

I can't remember what type we had when my kids were young. He got them from the fair grounds when they had the exotic animals. I could feed them but had to be careful because they would bite at times. Had them for around two years but my kids were scared of them and I was getting there. We gave them away to a single guy that loved those things.

Iguanas?

I had friends who had an iguana. I would bring my cat over and they would play together. They always got along. It died while the girl was away for work. So I suggested to her boyfriend that we put it in the freezer until she got back. Probably not the best idea....

Iguanas?

we had an iguana named murray until my son was born. my husband grew him to 5 1/2 feet (i also had two cats at the time). and when the boy was born murray went to live with a group of iguana that an acquaintance had… he happily became the alpha male and had a very good life.

then we had a gekko. i didn't like that because he ate live crickets, which used to get out of the tank occasionally.. .and my son (who was toddling by then) would pick up the crickets, and hand them to my husband saying "crickek, daddy, crickek"

after that, we had a bearded dragon named hagrid. he was very cool… died a few weeks ago, but he was probably close to 8 years old.

They bite sometimes. Sometimes by accident if you try to fed them by hand. They are dirty creatures. Kids often get sick from touching them and then putting their hand in their mouth.
