Oh right, I'll just try that. @Matalese (http://thepoliticalforums.com/member.php?u=796) Did it work? Yours just did. Thanks for that. :smiley:

Yes, all you do is put the @ symbol in front of someone's username. You have to type the username exactly correct, though, or it won't work. Some users require that you separate punctuation from the name. If I KC, it won't work. But if I KC , it will.

SON OF A MOTHER DUCK. Now, of course, when I type KC's mention, it works like a charm without separating punctuation >_>

Oh, by the way, Matalese, I'm working on that issue we talked about. I think I have a lead.

Matalese - I just figured it out. Click "Quick Links," then "Subscribed Threads," then "Edit Profile" to the left. "Edit User Group" is the one you want. Type whatever you want in that bar and you're good to go.

Okay I followed all your instructions, but I don't have an Edit User Group. that one must just be for you guys. Thanks for trying.

You summoned me?

haha. I think the problem started when I changed my username, which was originally kathaariancode (equally problematic for mentions; no one spelled it correctly).

You can't put anything after the @xxx like a comma or dash, has to be a space or the @ recognizes it as @xxx, and won't mention.

Plus there's a weird quirk if you do this:

@xxx

... and then post it, it shows up like this:
@xxx

Skips the line, adding a second line like this:

@xxx

Gives you that - two lines. It's odd.

Remember when using it to spell the username correctly to include caps. Like with IMPress Polly. I won't work if the caps is messed up.

Yes, it's inconsistent. If typing @ doesn't work, you can type, using KC as example:

KC

The 423 is member ID. It can be found in URL if you go to member's profile.

Pain in the butt to type but if you use MENTION tags like that then you don't have to type KC, you can type anything, like Kansas City, and it still notifies KC.

I can't see that either. Used to when I was a mod. Could always ask admin to enable it.
