Oakland Raiders fans have the reputation of being loud, well-costumed, and sometimes even obnoxious. Now, they will also be known as supporters of education.

Every season ticket purchased and paid in full between (http://www.raiders.com/news/article-1/Raiders-Ticket-Program-Assists-Oakland-Public-Schools/ab9788e9-6326-47ba-9740-50b91c207c81) May 1 and June 30 will have 10 percent of its gross donated to the Oakland public schools. With season tickets starting at $260 a piece and costing as much as $1,510, the donation to the schools can be substantial.....snip~

Kudos to the Raiders.....I would like to see more Sports Teams do something like this and give back toEducation. Giving back to those that have always supported them. I think it is a good move. These teams have money. Let them help schools and not just with things associated to sports.

They must be politically positioning for a new stadium or something like that.

I'm fairly certain it's not just out of the goodness of their heart.

Don't look like they will be moving to L.A......be great if they could get all teams to do this. In all sports. I rather have these guys throwing money to schools than the Fed.

You know, if I'm a ticket holder, I'm thinking bullshit.

I'm paying $260 or whatever for a ticket, what the fuck am I paying school tax for? 10% of my price for the ticket goes to public schools now?

That's fucked up for the consumer.

Works out as many ticket Season Ticket holders are not from Oakland. Just like with many other Pro Teams. Moreover how many Corporations buy up season tickets. Usually making it difficult for the little people to get tickets anyways.

That's even better - not only am I paying my school tax, I'm paying someone elses, in a district where I get no benefit.

That's what I'm thinking if I'm a Rrrrrrrrraidahs ticket holder.

They should have to specify which Type of Schools they are looking to help out. Grade Schools or High Schools, and Community Colleges. Big Universities can make their own money.

Don't know how that would work out in Chicago as they are the only School System tied to City Government.

They should just lower ticket prices by 10% if that money is burning a hole in their wallet, let the taxpayers figure the rest out.

I can't wait for football season to come back round. Plus these basketball and hockey playoffs to end.

I bet you these are obstructed seats and/or ones that don't sell, so they'd be sitting empty anyway. That's another reason they'll give them away to charities, makes them look good, they still get money on concessions and parking, etc.

I mean come on, would you really pay money to see Carson Palmer QBing with Matt Leinart backing him up? Only if you could travel back in time to those USC teams would it even be a consideration.

Being a Bears Fan.....I still won't pay to go See Cutler QB Da Bears. Thats even if he offeredto fund some school himself.

How much will actually reach the schools after the overhead?

Yeah sure - wait - no - that's not right, Al Davis is dead...it's probably out of the goodness of their hearts then.

Does this mean the Raiders are finally going to make good on Shanahan's contract.

Welcome Justme! I think Al Davis took that contract with him to the grave and probably left instructions to never pay the man. Then again I don't feel too badly for Shanahan...best move he made was getting away from Al.

This may be the wrong place to ask this, but is there a way I can set this up so that when I click on a thread I will automatically be taken to either the last post I have red or the one following it?

Yes.....you can go to setting and then Click subscribed threads. Which will always show what threads you have posted in. Also you can check What's New, which will show you the last post and any new threads started.
