Actually.....I would prefer those Ancient times where one lived and died by the Sword. The difference with those back then and those in todays day and age. Was those back then, first had to think. Before they Opened their mouths to say anything.

to rob them of their wealth and to see those dear to them bathed in tears,

Always been a firm believer in the 1400 Winchester 20 Ga. semi auto. No jams, no problems. I've had rem. 1100's and 870's and they are great guns but I'll stick with the 1400 in the end. I'm not going for distance, but consecutive fire and reliability.

Had one pointed at me once, not something you ever want to see. A 12 ga looks like a civil war cannon when you see it pointed at your body. There is no escape at a reasonable range anyway.

LOL, yeah. I did the paint ball thing with my boys when they were younger and they shot the shit out of me, but that was a frigging bb gun. Not worth putting in the trash can, and a grown man made that video. :) A P99 grip on a bb shotgun, it does shoot 3 bb's at a time so i guess it could be classified as one. Still worthless.

Zombies is a term for the people who would come and take your supplies from you if you are not prepared to defend them. :)

Think of it as you have a huge supply of brains and the walking dead are coming for them. See now?

I have quite a few guns. They are not perfect, but I am happy to pay dues to the NRA.

I have a friend who walked point in Nam, and he used a 12 gauge pump. He told me, "anything moved in the jungle, and they got it!"

I saw the shotgun they used in Nam at the Branson Veterans Museum, and I think it was a Mossberg.

what do some of the experts here think about full auto shotguns? do they have a role going foward in military use? (they're probably too over the top for civilian use I'd hazard). there were some rather futuristic looking onces developed as prototypes in the late 80s but never seem to advanced that much foward. but nowadays with the US engaged ever more in house to house fighting the need for one seem to be rising again?

(a prototype H&K CAWS shotgun, capable of semi auto and full auto mode... now that's a scary proposition in room to room fighting... )

The drum magazine might be preactical as well as cool looking. The 12 gauge rounds are fairly large. It may be the most convenient way to load.

RollingWave
08-21-2012, 01:08 PM
true, the one major issue with shotgun for military use was that you could only load a few shot at a time. but needing to reload often is suicidal in CQB

Historical tidbit I remember last night: Allied troops in the Pacific Theater complained about the drum magazines in their Thompson submachine guns because they made too much noise. I can imagine that you wouldn't want bullets rattling around in the magazine while you are creeping through the jungle. Shotgun shells are plastic so I doubt they could make much noise.

I have two shotguns, both 12 gauge pumps - for critter hunting mostly.

I've been eyeing vintage double barrels at gun shows, I'd really like to buy a good one. Mostly for show but to use though. I saw a nice lefever at a recent gun show and was oogling it for a while until my wife gave me the stink eye. It was pricey.

It's funny, I go to these shows and it's all old men with their wares. I almost feel uncomfortable sort of when I'm looking one of these over. It's like they're eyeing me up as if I'm dating their daughter.

My older boy got a bug up his ass recently about shooting so we took our guns down to the shooting range over the hill. I took my SKS with me but you can't shoot them at most ranges anymore. Insurance thing, so I'm wondering where I can fire off a box of rounds with it.

Fun gun to shoot.

I am a pretty good shot with a handgun. Now yall men can have those shotguns even tho I own around 10 because I inherited many and even a black powder pistol from Granddad. Captain Obvious

Yeah, we have a "society" just over the hill from us. We pack up our guns on the back of our quads and ride over there to shoot. It's pretty cool, they have night shoots where shit pops up everywhere and you just shoot it.

I don't own a pistol either, I've been eyeing those also. I'd like to get a nice Taurus at some point, mostly just to shoot for fun. Glocks are pricier because of the name but my son has been bending my ear a little that I might be not so correct in this assumption.

My first deer gun was a Mossberg bolt action 12 gauge with a three round mag and an external choke. I never killed a deer with it because I was afraid to pull the trigger. My dad believed in hand me down family guns until he felt we deserved our own. My most prized gun is his nickel plated Match Grade Colt Super 38 Auto. He bought it in 1960 from a Korean War Vet who quit shooting. He paid 35 dollars for it.

I haven't deer hunted in a while - maybe 15 years, mostly into squirrel hunting but I bought a Ruger 30.06 back when and sold it to my barber when I got out of the deer hunting gig.

I'm wishing I hadn't at this point - I think I paid $250 new for it back then and they're selling close to a G now used.

A friend of mine - at the same time I bought the 30.06 bought a 270 because he thought he was a good shot. I highly recommended that he buy the 30.06 but his mind was made up.

First day out both of us with our new guns - he ass-shoots a deer and we spend the entire rest of the day tracking this thing and never found it.

We get bobcats occasionally in our yard. PA bobcats, they're not that big but I've never hunted them.

It was an experience with this deer. We'd track it for an hour, there was snow and we'd follow the drip until it got thin then there was a huge pool of blood, probably from where it got down until we caught up to it.

Never found it, it was frustrating.
