Looking for a high quality photo printer for home office. I have a big laser printer for paperwork, but need a color printer that will put out pro quality photos. Anyone know of a good one?

How much are you willing to spend?

I recommend nothing lower than a .45 cal.

I'd like to stay under $500 if at all possible

Best Buy has the better deals and they actually know how to fix printers.

I wouldn't buy anything over $325 ...

They're all plastic and won't last forever.

If it's not simple to fix, it's cheaper to just buy a new one.

I have a Kodak photosmart, and am not happy with the photoprint quality at all. not to mention the cartridges are outrageously priced even over the internet.

I had a photo printer and the ink would go bad - and ink is expensive. Now I just use online services to print photos. It is much cheaper.

There are at least two contexts for judging the Canon Pixma MG8220 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One ($299.99 direct). First, as big brother to the Canon Pixma MG6220 (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2394372,00.asp) ($199.99 direct, 4 stars) that I recently reviewed, it offers essentially identical capabilities except that it adds the ability to scan 35mm slides and strips of film. Second, it's Canon's latest high-end home photo lab, meaning that it can print high-quality photos from so many different sources that you can reasonably use it just for photos without ever connecting to a computer. Either way, it's impressive enough to be the new Editors' Choice for high-end photocentric MFP.

I have a nice one and it enables me to print up all those photos that the photo stores refuse to do because of copyright laws. HeLL with copyright laws. Don't remember what it is though. As long as it works when I need it that's all I care about.

I just bought a Canon Pixma...and I really like it...great photo prints & the cartridges are about 1/2 what I was paying for Lexmark cartridges.

Epson is where it's at if you are willing to shell out the money.

Cigar has some good ones above. If you are not too concerned with width size the Epson R3000 is a great printer, archival inks and fantastic prints. Slightly above your price point and check price at B&H Photo in NY.
