1) Start using the rail system for a higher percentage of long distance frieght
2) Stop trying to manipulate the ME and start drilling and refining our own oil
3) Cap fossil fuel usage at current levels
4) Make the development of alternate energy a priority.
5) Stop corporate welfare and subsidies
6) Encourage the development of local economies for staple foods, water, and energy
7) Ban fossil fuel exports
8) Set a low quota for oil imports

I think that makes sense.

Though I think the majority of freight does travel cross country by rail.

The US does drill and refine oil...more so than ever before.

Alternate energy is a priority for many.

Stopping subsidies would save billions, but it's never going to happen when lobbyists wield as much clout as they do.

Stopping exports of fuels like refined oil and coal would have a negative impact on the economy. Part of the problem is that the US has ramped up production and has surpluses of gas. Gas they export.

The only oil imports are really from Canada and Mexico.

Are you saying that we don't import OPEC oil?

Are you saying that we don't import OPEC oil?

You do...but a shrinking portion.

We need to develop refinery capacity right here at home.
