Luka Magnotta closed his eyes and showed no emotion after the jury foreman read the highly anticipated verdict in a Montreal courtroom, announcing that the eight women and four men deciding his fate had found him guilty on all charges.



On their eighth day of deliberations on Tuesday, the 12-person jury found Magnotta guilty of first-degree murder and committing an indignity to a body in the killing and dismemberment of Chinese engineering student Jun Lin in 2012.


A first-degree murder verdict carries an automatic life sentence with no possibility of parole for 25 years.

Former porn actor and escort Luka Magnotta was found guilty Tuesday of first-degree murder in the dismemberment of a Chinese student.



The 32-year-old Canadian had admitted to killing Jun Lin, 33, defiling a corpse, videotaping the acts, and mailing parts of the body to elementary schools and political parties in 2012.

However, he had pleaded not guilty on grounds of mental illness.

He fled to Europe after the killing and was the subject of an international manhunt.

He was arrested in a Berlin Internet cafe, where he was reading about his own case.

During the trial, jurors saw surveillance video (http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/surveillance-video-shown-canadian-body-parts-trial-n220331) showing Magnotta letting his victim into his Montreal apartment building and, a day later, carrying out a large square suitcase exactly like one which was later found behind the building with some of Lin's body parts in it.
