Nope!

Perhaps it's a Chrome thing. I've spent half the day uninstalling my AV program, installing a new one, deleting rootkits, making sure all my extensions are legitimate and I'm still experiencing odd browser behavior. I've rebooted several times. I don't know why it's still freezing or not loading screens.

I understood freezing and not loading, the rest is Klingon to me. Good luck with getting it working correctly.

I'm beginning to question why I use it myself. It uses more memory than it should. What's the best browser out there right now and why?

I know that no one will listen to me but here goes anyway. The expense of Apple is well worth the worry free use! No attacks, no malware, no virus! I just clean my cookies everyday! I change passwords on some sites frequently too! Knock on wood!

Chrome is predatory. I've downloaded other programs and had Chrome crapwared/hijacked as my default browser. After that I'm more careful and I still see it out there trying to get on my computer. That's more than enough reason for me to avoid it like a virus.

I've been using Firefox for years, with AdBlock and a couple other add-on's. Never had a problem. The rare crash but nothing was ever lost.

I've gotten really onto open-source software. For example I've started using VLC Media Player for watching movies and stuff, it's been pretty good so far.

Anything non-Microsoft is the way to go.

I'm sure it is, but I have a problem with proprietary parts. It's an old bugaboo with me.

I use firefox but it doesnt matter what browser you use anymore. Adware, Malware, is everywhere and insidious.
People need layers of protection, not just one program but many. Malware and the like eat your resources and make it impossible to surf.

I have a friend who owns a computer repair, he repairs everything Desktops, laptops, tablet and smartphones. Im there 3 days a week, I work with him when he gets too busy.

They lionshare of all computing devices that are brought to him as broken are just full of malware adware and/or virus. We clean them, sometimes we have to back up their data and reload windows.
People need to learn to clean their own computer. If your computer performace is slow, its not the internet or the forum im most cases its whats on your system sucking up your resources, clean out your computer first before you do anything else.

Recomendations. Best free Internet Security Software, Comodo internet security premium
I pay for SuperAntiSpyware and I run it twice daily. I paid for Malwarebytes.
I use a free program thats very good Adwcleaner. I use free AML registry cleaner it also performs other cleaning, disk etc.
I use free Geek Uninstaller, uninstalling improperly leaves garbage everywhere. This program is free and good.

I do run hitman pro and others depending on what I think I need.

One thing EVERYONE needs to do, when you clean you computer and its running the best that it can. DO A FULL BACKUP OF EVERYTHING YOU HAVE. it doesnt cost that much today to buy a 1 trig backup, the software is so easy, two clicks and you backup everything you have.

I have a seagate I paid 49 bucks for.

The more surfing you do the more sites you go too and if your like peter and capt obvious and surf many Porn sites you REALLY need alot of protection :)

Also if you need to know the BEST free software go to this site and look around, Gizmo been around for many years. Do a search for what youre looking for, ie: Anti malware software
Internet security.

Heres a good site for freeware carries most of the major stuff, you can do a search

Has anyone else been having browser issues on their computer today?
Yes. I have. Essentially, I have been receiving the following messages quite often for some time now when in this forum and when using the Firefox browser.

"Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at thepoliticalforums.com.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Try Again"

By the way, I AM connected and there does not appear to be any conflict with the firewall, etc. If I continue, this prompt will reappear and after several tries it goes back to where I can post. Sometimes however, the interference will cause a Double-Posting or leaving off information that I had input.

Another error that appears when using Firefox is making reference to:

XML Parsing Error. It shows "Firefox/browser/omni.ja!/chrome/browser/content/browser/aboutneterror/netError.xhtml Line Number 337, Column 54: <div id="ed_netTimeout">&netTimeout.longDesc;</div>

It shows that it is a netTimeout. So, perhaps that could mean that it is taking a long time to connect to a certain feature on TPFs therefore, the prompt appears?

The clue here is that it could be a "netError.xhtml." A network error perhaps? ADMIN has been trying to get to the bottom of this too. Perhaps something in the programming language is cause all these errors? But they are sure getting to be very bothersome and sometimes preclude me from replying or posting as fast as I would like. There is also an apparent lag when typing out a message.

Dr. Who, is this what you are experiencing too?

Those errors true blue are most likely re directs sucking your resources, If you get that error and then reload the site and you go in, it can very well be ad and malware.

I get that error occaisionally and I run some software and the problem is gone

I have good Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware software such as Malwarebytes and another one. I run a Virus and Malware scan pretty often also but have not found anything so I'm stumped as to what could be going on here since this behavior is most prevalent on TPFs.

Has anyone else been having browser issues on their computer today?

I use Firefox. I don't usually have any problems with them but I did about a month ago after an upgrade. I would open the browser and work for a while then it would freeze up. When I tried to open "favorites" or anything else all it showed was a black column. I had to close Firefox and the only way to get it to restart was to reboot my computer. I finally found out from their help site that the latest upgrade included a feature that sped up the video card. The problem was that my 3 year old card didn't recognize the new drivers. The temporary fix was to disable the "speed up" feature and that did work. The long term solution was to find and download updates for my video card that recognized the new Firefox driver.

I do some graphics and coding for Zetabords forums and I use Firefox pretty much exclusively but I do have Explorer and Chrome so I can see how things look on them. Sometimes Chrome renders things a bit differently than Firefox and Explorer often renders things differently than Firefox. Except for office work I don't see why anyone would use Explorer over Firefox or even chrome.

If I were you i would go to the Chrome help site and search for problems similar to yours.

Also download speedy fox, it keeps firefox from getting bogged down.

Maybe you have too many add-on's. Not that people make things too complicated. You might be right about that. But how does one ever know how many is too many though? Quite a few serve a great function. I suppose the only way of finding out is to go on Safe Mode and disable each and every one of them until the culprit is found, if indeed it is the Add-0ns. Could be something else too.

I'm not getting specific error messages on Chrome, but extremely slow response times and then sometimes it just times out altogether. I'm temporarily using IE now, and it's giving me interruptions, closes the browser and reopens. A bit annoying but better than time-outs.

Maybe not then.

I sometimes wonder if it's not sometimes routing between say your ISP and a particular site. Your ISP and the site might be fine, but if a server along the route was slow--though you'd think there'd be multiple routings. Networking is too complex!

Adware malware may not be your problem, im just going through steps. Try an Ctrl Alt Del
and and bring up task manager and look under the application, process' and services tab and see if you mulitiple anythings you cant identify or anything that is running that you cant associate with anything you have. Be careful dont change anything if you dont know.

As a last resort to see if its your browser or not you can always export your bookmarks to desktop, download a fresh copy and reinstall, you will have to customize appearance and redownload addons, that takes a few mins. Good luck

Caution should be used when using System Restore, however, because while it will restore the system to a previous state it will also knock off most all of your add-ons and other things you had set up so that you have to re-download them and install them. Also, certain things you had set up will need to be reconfigured.

They are identical in CPU, Mem., Disk, & Network except one seems to have one figure more than the other in CPU usage.
