My wifes cholesterol is a bit high, she isnt heavy at all and she eats extremely well, its hereditary.
So I was in publix and I was looking at the ice cream row, I love ice cream it takes great restraint for me to consume it rarely. Anyway.
I saw this stuff Arctic Zero it was with all the gelato stuff so I figured it was gelato. Then I looked closer its fat free organic and the whole pint only has 144 calories. Thats 4 servings of ice cream. It has NO artificial sweetner its sweetened naturally with organic can and monk fruit. Has no fat or cholesterol.
I bought Vanilla maple and Chocolate. I figured it was going to taste icey and not creamy. Well its not bad at all let defrost some and get a little soft and it tastes good and has a very creamy texture.
Not bad for people that have to watch fat or calories.

Thanks for the tip!

The doctor just gave her a drug that works entirely differnt than statin drugs to reduce cholesterol and she gets none of the muscle cramps and pain. Its working very well for her. Shes sleeping and I dont know the name of the drug off hand. Ill post it here tomorrow, If I forget just remind me ok RW maybe you can give it a try.

Im sorry to hear that peter, they are a rough drug and only should be used when all else failed. My wifes cholesterol raised as she aged with no diet change. When it got to be 250 the doctor said ok youre following the diet, now we have to try something, I believe she went through 4 different statin drugs one worse than the other. She couldnt even walk with one she got leg cramps from hell.
The drug shes taking now is working well her cholesterol is going down slowly and she has no side effects. Dr told her it works different than than statins.

My cholesterol is 254. But the HDL is 101. So when the docs freak out, I ignore them (and chuckle).

I'm lucky so far no prescriptions yet. My husbands new diabetes meds almost killed him. Gave him chest pains so bad he thought he was dying. He changed meds and the pains went away. My 90 year old mom was on Warfrin, never had heart disease or a stroke, but he put her on it. Her blood got much too thin and her eye blood vessels behind the eye bled. She's 90% blind now. That was two years ago. I don't want to take any drug, I'll keep adjusting my diet if necessary. I'm trusting doctors less and less.
I hate ice cream, so no desire to eat any, but I love a good pastry, Italian preferably, which is probably worse.

I'm going to show this to my wife, I'll let you know if this stuff is any good or not. She'll run out and get some and both her and my 11yr old will be the ultimate judge.

I rarely eat dessert stuffs but once in a blue moon I like ice cream, I'll stick with the high fat stuff though.
I do prefer vanilla pudding actually, love that stuff.

It is not HUMAN to hate ice cream, I have never heard I hate ice cream uttered. Italian pastry made right the old fashioned way has enough butter and lard to kill a large bull elephant
Heres a strange one for you rose. One of my daughters best friends from the crib growing up. Hated potatos in any form, wouldnt eat mashed or frenchfries. Yet over my house she ate all veggies including brussel sprouts.

Peter1469...did he have a reaction to the statins? Both my husband & I are on them so I'm definitely concerned!

He had all the negative reactions to include muscle degeneration. His cardiovascular disease was so advanced that the docs said he would die sooner without the satins.

Sorry for your loss....it sounds like he had a very rough time (and his family too). My husband & both are on small doses of statins and have had no side effects at all. We are tested regularly for liver function problems but nothing has showed up. They seem to be working well to control mild cholesterol issues.

If they are not having the negative side effects then they should be tolerating the satins just fine.
What is their cholesterol like? Doctors tend to not understand the numbers.

husband's was 257 after Thanksgiving...his is usually well under 200 while taking his meds. I think the higher # was too much egg nog and being careless about taking his meds. I don't remember the other numbers...it was just enough that the doctor called and gave him a little talking to about taking the meds & watching his diet over the holidays. He started having to watch it in his early 40's...but his entire family has the problem. He's very active & never had a weight issue (disgusting).

The total number doesn't help. You need to know the 3 separate numbers (1) HDL (2) LDL and (3) triglycerides. High LDL and tri numbers are problems. A high HDL is not and is good for you.
So if his total cholesterol is 257, I would want to see an HDL of 60+ which is uncommon, but would mean that 257 total should not be a problem.

My cholesterol was always low, its been as low as 165 and most of my life that its been checked its hovered average 180-190 recently my triglycerides have gone up and my cholesterol hit 210. Dr said thats normal, older people eat out more and dont know whats in it and dont excersize as much. If it goes higher than its time to pay attention she tells me. I have an appt with blood test jan 5th

You need cholesterol to live. Low is not good. (http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/high-blood-cholesterol/expert-answers/cholesterol-level/faq-20057952)

I'm lactose intolerant, ice cream doubles me over in pain. Gelato is a bit better, but I don't crave it. Maybe twice a year I risk it and have a malted (I used to love egg creams...a NY thing)
I treat myself to a good pastry whenever I can find them. I don't like cake or pie either, can pass on them. I'm not a candy eater either unles you put a box of Godiva in front of me or a good European chocolate.
