This explains the poll.

Finland really hits you hard on traffic tickets.

If you are poor, they base your fine on your income.

If you are middleclass, you pay more than the poor

If you are rich, they hammer you hard.

Example

They nailed a millionaire 60,000 Euros for going 14 miles over the speed limit on a major road.

I think there's an argument for tickets to be on a scale.

Many people park illegally because they don't give a shit about the fines.

That being said, it's not something I would push for.

Finland says you must pay a steeper fine if you make more money. They feel it has to hurt.

I doubt the 60,000 fine in Euros hurt the guy in Finland given he made 7 million that year. They have fined others over 100,000 Euros for such tickets.

To me that is like if the poor man robs the frail lady, he pays the fine of 1 Euro. If he is rich and robs a man of a million dollars who is rich, he pays 10 million. Makes no sense to me.

...but you do get the rationale? In order for a ticket or fines to dissuade speeding, the consequences must have an effect.

So they claim. It strikes me as wrong. 14 miles per hour and he had to be fined 60,000 Euros?

This is why I brought it up. I think by now everybody knows I think it is wrong.

But left wingers probably think it is a wonderful idea.

They don't like the rich and want them hammered all day long anyway it can be done.

it's difficult to insult the nonexistent.

That will cure your feelings of inferiority. At least don't blame me for hoping.
