Supposedly this Syrian guy is pretty reliable, first to report:

Let's see if the other news outlets pick it up

AL Jazerra also reporting his security team has been killed / disarmed and members of his family are in custody. Looking like the end is nigh.

Libya's rebels have captured Muammar Gaddafi's son, Saif Al-Islam, the head of the rebel National Transitional Council told Al Jazeera television on Sunday.

Could be a false report, if true I expect it here first:

The crowds in Tripoli are going bananas. Seems they are glad to be rid of him whether dead or alive.

Yep it is on Yahoo too about Qadhafi's son being captured. I havent seen anything on Qadhafi as of yet.

Plus there is major news on the Syrian front this Sunday too. Assad has responded back to the US and the UN.

Right now CNN is showing Qadhafi live on breaking News Speaking out. Qadhafi speech is calling on the people of Tripoli to stand and fight against NATO. He is calling on women to come out and fight against the imperialists. He is telling all in the Mosques to come and lead their people as this is not paradise. Will you let them destroy the city.

Told NATO to stop the air-strikes and let him lead his country.

It's a little late for that. He should have thought about negotiating when he could do so from a position of perceived strength. As you can see, he must have been weak to begin with since his position unraveled so quickly. It was virtually overnight.

Private business has and will make money on all this. A lot of money went from the government to all those defense contractors, and there's going to be work in Libya to modernize and equip the oil production. It is something how Exxon, BP, Halliburton, etc. have each gotten a slice of Iraq for themselves. Just how these things work I guess.

Yep...though a lot of those companies are multinational, so it becomes very hard to tell where the money goes. I guess what used to be true still is that wars are good for making money. Now it's not the national economies that get the boost but smaller entities still make boatloads of dough. Someone sold all those munitions to the NATO forces, and the Fire Scouts like you mentioned before, etc.

REUTERS - Saif Al-Islam, son of Muammar Gaddafi, greets supporters in Tripoli August 23, 2011. Saif told journalists that Libya, which has been largely overrun in the past 24 hours by rebel forces seeking …more to topple his father, was in fact in government hands and that Muammar Gaddafi was safe.

The shocking appearance of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi on Tripoli's streets in the early hours of Tuesday morning shattered the sense that the rebels' victory in Libya was in hand. Supposedly in rebel custody, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's son was instead seen talking to the press surrounded by supporters, raising concerns that the opposition might be struggling to knit together a cohesive government-in-waiting, as it battles to finally crush Gaddafi's regime - as well as to hunt down the fugitive leader himself.

On Monday, the opposition leaders of the National Transitional Council, or NTC, had repeatedly hailed its fighters for having arrested Saif the night before, after they stormed into Tripoli, apparently meeting only light resistance from Gaddafi's remaining forces.

With no functioning Libyan government, one of the only ways to gauge Gaddafi's remaining strength is by the street fighting in Tripoli.....snip~

Yep.....The Libyan Rebels and their TNC lied once again.

The rebels were not the only ones whose credibility was in doubt on Tuesday. So too was that of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, which has indicted Saif al-Islam, his father, and Gaddafi's security chief Abdallah al-Senousi on charges of crimes against humanity for allegedly organizing security forces to fire upon and kill unarmed protesters last February, before the rebels in eastern Libya took up weapons. Under ICC rules, a defendant is brought to trial after an arrest by a foreign government. Yet Libya has never signed the ICC treaty, leaving the transfer of Saif and his father in considerable doubt - many rebels, in fact, would prefer to try the men in Libya.

Despite that, ICC officials had said on Monday that they were discussing with rebel leaders how to transfer Saif to stand trial in The Hague. On Tuesday, that changed: ICC spokesman Fadi el Abdallah told the BBC that despite several attempts, the organization had never received proof that Saif was under arrest. "We were trying to confirm the information," Abdallah said. "We tried to contact different persons from the NTC and got different information." In a similar way, information about Libya's war depends on who one asks.
