Eric T. Schneiderman, the attorney general of New York, has come under increasing pressure from the Obama administration to drop his opposition to a wide-ranging state settlement with banks over dubious foreclosure practices, according to people briefed on discussions about the deal.

And here the German Prez is telling the financial sector they don't dictate policy. Seems to work for her.

Yes, clearly the roles have been reversed in this country.

During the old S and L scandal there were over one thousand investigations launched by the Justice Department, the mortgage fraud and financial collapse yielded ten.

Now Schneiderman has been removed from the negotiating committee because he opposed any deal that gives banks a release from criminal prosecution in exchange for civil fines. >:( >:( >:(
