For all the other alcohol enthusiasts out there - I bought myself a bottle of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey (I'm poor, I get what I can afford) and decided to try it with A&W Root Beer, the kind with aged vanilla. The aged vanilla of the root beer mixed very well with the honey of the whiskey.

JD is a decent whiskey. I just hate sour mash.

It's not my favorite, but I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate it.

Way back when...I loved tequila. Now, a glass of wine every month or two is my idea of a wild party.

I used to hate tequila, but then my wife's nana got me a margarita mix for Christmas and her mom taught me how to make margaritas. Bought a bottle of tequila for it and it was actually pretty good. I had two glasses and finished off my wife's glass

Dr. Pepper is just a very versatile pop drink to mix with alcohol. I haven't had a bad mixture with Dr. Pepper yet.

You should always drink high end whiskey that way. I'll mix Tullamore DEW, Johnny Walker, or Jameson with black tea.

Vodka tonic. In the warmer months I like it with lemonade. Never much of a drinker, but I do enjoy a drink or two now and again.

I don't always drink mixed drinks but when I do it's always a bloody mary, made from scratch.
I have been known to have a gin and tonic every once in a while too, or a rum and coke. I once drank almost an entire bottle of rum mixing them with coke, they're dangerous. My wife was like "you ready for rehab now?" - I'm like "no shit, it's almost gone?", I couldn't believe it.

Have you ever tried Abita's Purple Haze? Ugh...it tastes like candy. That's the girliest beer I ever had.

when did beer become a fruit drink?
more importantly, why did beer become a fruit drink?

I really don't get it either. This didn't have a hint of sweetness. It was disgustingly sweet.

If you had ever tasted really GOOD whiskey, you'd know that JD was NOT really fine... even if you were forced, by economic hardship, to drink it.

Lol, my tolerance for rum and coke is off the charts. I think the coke really offsets the rum because it takes an awful lot of it to get me drunk. Wine on the other hand, gets me drunk faster, but I actually prefer it - not because I want to get drunk, but because it's more natural.

I agree. JD is good for killing a cold. My ex drank Chivas Regal Royal Salute a very smooth aged scotch. I always enjoyed a shot of Drambuie, a very, very smooth scotch liqueur. JD burns too much going down.

I'm not a big bourbon fan. Occasionaly I'll take a shot or two of woodford reserve or knob creek, but those are about the only two I can tolerate. I find Irish whiskey, like tullamore dew to be much smoother.

It does, but it really isn't. Like I said, the vanilla of the A&W and the honey of the Jack Daniels provides a bridge that nicely blends the two drinks.

Right now I'm on my third Harvey Wallbanger. I live on the water. There's a park by my house with a community 4th of July party going on now. A live band playing the Allman Bros "Ramblin Man". Not bad at all.
