Perhaps the world's conspiracy theorists have been right all along (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/thinking-man/11671617/Perhaps-the-worlds-conspiracy-theorists-have-been-right-all-along.html)People tend to dismiss conspiracy theories easily. Without thought. He is an article that questions the easy conclusions.

This nice, cozy state of affairs lasted until the early 2000s. But then something changed. These days conspiracy theories don’t look so crazy and conspiracy theorists don’t look like crackpots. In fact, today’s conspiracy theory is tomorrow’s news headlines. It’s tempting, I suppose, to say we live in a golden age of conspiracy theories, although it’s only really golden for the architects of the conspiracies. From the Iraq war to Fifa to the banking crisis, the truth is not only out there, but it’s more outlandish than anything we could have made up.

See the link for the current "conspiracy" theories that are too true for comfort.

yeap....but I don't think geopolitical irony even begins to cover the situation we have created.

'The most disgusting abuse of power in a generation and a moral quagmire that never ends. America is attacked by terrorists and so, declares war on a country that had nothing whatsoever to do with the attacks, while ignoring an oil rich ally which had everything to do with them. The justification for war is based on some witches’ brew of faulty intelligence, concocted intelligence and ignored good intelligence. Decent people are forced to lie on an international stage. All sensible advice is ignored and rabid neo-con draft dodgers hold sway on military matters. The UK joins this fool’s errand for no good reason. Blood is spilled and treasure is spent.

The result is a disaster that was predicted only by Middle Eastern (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/iraq/) experts, post-conflict planners and several million members of the public. Thousands of allied troops and hundreds of thousands of blameless Iraqis are killed, although plenty of companies and individuals benefit from the US dollars that were shipped out, literally, by the ton. More recently, Iraq, now in a far worse state than it ever was under any dictator, has become an incubator for more terrorists, which is a special kind of geopolitical irony lost entirely on the war’s supporters. I don't dismiss conspiracy, I just take it with a grain of salt.

I think humans in general are more disingenuous than genuine and that one in a thousand that might be genuine is hard to pick out.

A lot of various conspiracy theories have been proven correct. There are certainly the wild and wacky ones out there that I can almost guarantee will never be proven true, like the ones about all the world's leaders being secret lizard aliens and every tragedy and terror attack ever was faked by Hollywood, but stuff like the mind control experiments of MK ULTRA has been proven as factually occurring.

These well-financed conspiracy websites are plants to throw rebels off the trail. The worst conspiracy is right out in the open and accepted as legitimate use of power because of the power it has already used for brainwashing.

Yet our suppressed rational mind create doubts, which creep in and inhibit the cheerleading for our required father figures. Hearing a lack of enthusiasm out there or too many boos mixed in with the sheep-song, for self-protection the rulers have to create theories that throw us off the trail or turn us into nuts who come to believe in the impossible because we have nothing else to believe in.

It's pretty obvious to anyone who cares to pay attention and to do research on both history and how numerous industries and governments operate that powerful people are doing nefarious things intentionally

And another article from today

5 wild conspiracy theories that turned out to be true (http://www.realcleardefense.com/articles/2015/06/16/5_wild_conspiracy_theories_that_turned_out_to_be_t rue_108079.html)

1. The US Navy fired on North Vietnamese torpedo boats that weren’t even there.
2. The FBI infiltrated, surveilled, and tried to discredit American political groups it deemed “subversive.”
3. U.S. military leaders had a plan to kill innocent people and blame it all on Cuba.
4. The CIA recruited top American journalists to spread propaganda in the media and gather intelligence.
5. The CIA conducted “mind control” experiments on unwitting U.S. and Canadian citizens, some of which were lethal.

The stuff is literally out in the open and people still deny it. It's pretty crazy.

Wouldn't shock me if some documents come to light in 30 years or so exposing the terrorism facade and the premise of our wars to be complete lies.

Number 3 sounds alarmingly like 9/11 btw. Cuban terrorists attack, kill Americans, welp, time to go to war. Thank God Kennedy shot that one down. Hey, didn't that cat get shot or something? Hmm....

False flag attacks....

Our government lied about Vietnam and intended to kill Americans as justification to go to war with Cuba. Kennedy also dies, the man who stopped Northwoods, they have a joke of an investigation and a hilariously insulting theory as to how he died, and name a total patsy at best as his killer. His killer gets killed before he can talk, and then the man who killed Oswald dies months later in prison, apparently from cancer. It all seems so legit.

Not only does your government not have your best intentions in mind, they also have literally no respect for the populations intellectual capacity.

Agreed on all accounts. Also Kennedy wanted to have the Treasury print our own money.

Hell, you can actually download the declassified documentation on MKULTRA. A few others too. Like the Lucifer Project, and Blue Planet I think. I'd have to check again. But the government has done, and continues to do rather strange things, and evil things, with our money.

Well that and he wrote an executive order to toss the Federal Reserve...which was later superseded by his successor's executive order.

How convenient it all worked out. Ugh. HIstory is wonderful if you only look at valorous parts of it, sickening if you look at the ugly though.

So there are actual proven conspiracies, such as MK ULTRA. And there seems to be a huge cottage industry of debunking conspiracy theory, regardless of supposed merit. Hmmmm....
