One major difference between cats and dogs is that dogs spend their entire existence trying to please you. Its the pack mentality. Cats will only acknowledge that you exist when their food bowl is empty.

I visited friends who own cats, 5 of them. I was covered in cat hair when I left. Covered.

I don't know how people can live like that.

Mom suffered with breathing troubles for several years. Several trips to the hospital because of it. We told her to give her cat away, but she refused saying it's not the cat.

Now she's in a nursing home with no cat, and her breathing is perfect. Cat dander was the problem.

Dogs are way worse, used to have to run the sweeper daily with our lab or the floor would look like it was covered with black snow.

Was it a long haired cat?
