We live on a very small, somewhat wind protected lake. Many of us have motorized rafts. No, neither white water nor Huck Finn. They are essentially a floating deck because we put foam billets underneath them. They are slow, and don't use a hell of a lot of gas, but just right for putting around, getting out to a mid lake sand bar or doing a little trolling all of which will likely happen this afternoon.

Sounds like fun. Is there good fishing in the lake?

That sounds like a lot of fun. We see a lot of party barges (pontoon boats) in our area. We like to stay in the smaller bayous & creeks....suitable for small boats, kayaks & canoes. We have a small Boston Whaler that is perfect to sneak into areas that the larger vessels can't go.

Yes, our bass don't get too big but we have some nice trout. Certain times of year, not now, I can reel in 20-24 inch rainbows off my dock.

I kayak a little too but need to do more. Yes, these rafts are sort of a "redneck pontoon boat" if you will

A friend manages a private lake that provides some of the best fishing I have ever seen. Bass fishing is catch & release (over 3 lbs). Our friend is a professor at a local girl's college and actually teaches a class in bass fishing.

We rafted for a while and the motor stalled out a couple of times so the wife wanted to come back to the dock. O told her I could keep restarting it and if I couldn't I had a perfect back up plan: Which was for her to jump in and push the raft home. She was not amused. So instead of fishing I had to settle for swimming, kayaking and visiting with the neighbors. Tough life!
