Did an easy hike to ponytail falls in the columbia river gorge with the fam, so beautiful, but soooo cold! Layering is your friend.

Pretty. How cold was it?

From what I remember, it's usually pretty mild this time of year with highs in the 30's - low 40's

I use to do day hikes in the winter in upstate NY. I would pack my coat and only pull it out when we stopped for breaks. Otherwise I would sweat too much.

I often have to unzip the coat when out for a hike or snow shoe even when it's below zero

The cold is your friend. I love running when it's freezing out. I find it helps my lungs.

Is that snow on the ground and in the trees?

Ugh. Give me the desert.
