The grand-younguns bought me Far Cry Primal for Father's Day. I knew that the sound wouldn't work, because I use the onboard RealTek HD audio. Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4, and Far Cry Primal all use the Dunia II engine, and the Dunia II engine doesn't get along with RealTek.

The solution is generally pretty easy to implement. My go to is to change the sampling bitrate/kHz combo. So, I went to do that in Windows 10, and the Windows 10 installation had hidden the Realtek Sound Manager app. I had to do a full hard drive search to find it. Once I found it, I was able to get the sound working. But, thanks to Windows 10, it took an extra ninety minutes.

Still, good game.

But I loved Redneck Rampage. Did you ever play Redneck Rampage: Suckin' Grits On Route 66?

Thing I like most about Windows 10 is I don't even realize I'm using it.

Don't forget Doom.

I tell people that I like Windows 10 more than Windows 8.x, but less than every other version of Windows that I've ever used, including Windows for Workgroups 3.1.

One of the most aggravating is how, every so often, the Start button just stops working.

I don't f'ing want the same OS on my desktop, my phone, and my tablet. The tablet and phone are just for messing around on. The desktop is for power use.

Either get Never10, or the GWX Control Panel. Both will keep Windows Update from deciding to install W10 on your PCs. GWX will also remove 3 to 5 Gb of hidden install files for W10, put there by MS.

Microsoft does and they know precisely everywhere you go and what you do. Why else do you think they gave away a brand new operating system for free.

I started pc games with the first Pong, went to donkey kong then duke nukem. Eventually the originaly wolfenstein. Doom was the prescurser to Quake1

Mostly the same here. I bought pong right when it came out. Then I got the Atari 2600 when it came out. Played all sorts of computer games, but never duke nukem, until a few years ago, when that last one came out.

Payout of $10,000 for Windows 10 update
Mon, 27 Jun 2016 - Microsoft agrees to pay a California woman $10,000 (£7,500) after an automatic Windows 10 update leaves her computer unusable.

Teri Goldstein said her Windows 7 computer had automatically tried to update itself to Windows 10 without her permission. She said the update had made her machine unstable, leaving her unable to use it to run her business. Microsoft said it had dropped its appeal to save on legal costs.

Microsoft has been aggressively pushing the latest version of its widely used operating system, which is currently available as a free download for computers running Windows 7 and 8. However, many people have chosen not to upgrade, because they are running old hardware, have software that does not run on Windows 10, are concerned over the software's tracking features, or simply do not want it.

In February, the company bundled Windows 10 in with its security updates and made it a "recommended update", which meant it was automatically downloaded and installed unless blocked by the user. Some people accused the company of trying to "trick" customers into installing the update.

The Seattle Times reported that Ms Goldstein's computer had "slowed to a crawl" after the update, and Microsoft customer support had not fixed the problem. "I had never heard of Windows 10. Nobody ever asked me if I wanted to update," she told the newspaper.
