There are always Thursday night games in College though, if that's what you're thinking?

Jay Cutler still recovering from hits

After being sacked 11 times in the season's first two games, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler said Wednesday he's unsure he can last the season at this pace.

"I don't know," Cutler said in a raspy voice, the result of a kick to the throat early in the third quarter of Sunday's 30-13 loss to the New Orleans Saints. "I don't know."

The Saints sacked Cutler six times and hit him 16 times.

"We're two games in, I don't think there's any reason for anybody to hit the panic button," Cutler said. "Those [offensive linemen] are working hard and doing what they have to do. We just have to help them out some."

Cutler was sacked a league-worst 52 times in the 2010 regular season. He was sacked an NFL-record nine times in the first half against the New York Giants last season, and suffered a concussion that kept him out of the second half of the game as well as the following week.

He won't last...might not be a bad thing though.

Cutler is part of the problem too though, holding on to the ball for too long.

Well they did prove they can run block. Truthfully this is on the Coach. Like CL stated Cutler needs to learn to throw the ball quickly. Moreover it is the coach's job to win. Which means if he dont think Cutler is on the job. Then he needs to be removed and put in the 2nd string.

Yep...if Cutler takes much more than he will take himself out of the game and Lovie won't have to make the decisions. 1-1 not time to panic...yet. Funny first couple of weeks, CHI thumps ATL who beats PHI...stay tuned.

The Chicago Bears GM wants everyone to stop picking on the poor offensive line! >:( >:( :D

Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo not only defended his offensive line's play during Sunday's 30-13 loss to the New Orleans Saints, but Angelo also praised the Bears' offseason efforts to improve the beleaguered unit.

Jay Cutler was sacked a league-worst 52 times during the regular season last year, and he's already been sacked 11 times in two games this season. The Saints dropped him six times and hit him 16 times.

"We did everything you could possibly do to that [offensive line] position," Angelo told the Bears' website. "Nobody did more than the Chicago Bears."

Okay I know Da Bears are playing the Packers and the Eagles are playing the Giants. They say Vick has been cleared to play. Bears have two offense linemen injured. Plus Bennet will not play. Which means Cutler won't have his crutch to throw to. Althought Old azz Roy Williams will be back for a couple games until he says he is injured again. Or gets injured again.

According to what I heard. Someone had a talk to Martz about running 11 run plays to 59 passing. That Cutler won't get creamed as much.

I don't think the Bears will be able to handle the Packers. Martz will probably go to a 3 step drop to throw. Which the packers will all be up on that shit. Bears need to run the ball, throw screens, and look to throw the ball to the big tight end on the slant inside.
Not to mention Knox and Hestor need to start getting open and catching what is thrown to them. Problem is they know Cutler will set them up for the big hit, and they don't want to get injured like that.

BTW D.....thats Cutler not Custer!!!!! :D ;D

3 step drops would be great if Cutler could throw the quick slants...I dunno, I wouldn't give up on Da Bears yet. Great one week, bad another. A lot of teams struggle down in the Superdome. Could be Cutler partied too hard the night before, he does like his drink. 8)

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Former-offensive-tackle-Orlando-Brown-found-dead?urn=nfl-wp7788

Orlando "Zeus" Brown, a 6-foot-7 offensive tackle who played for the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens in a career that lasted from 1994 through 2005, was recently found dead in his Baltimore condominium. The Ravens confirmed the news on Friday. The cause of death has not been announced.

Brown's football career came with one notable hiccup in the middle. In 1999, he was hit in the eye with a penalty flag thrown by official Jeff Triplette during a Browns game. Brown left the field, came back on the field, and shoved Triplette. He was suspended by the league until it was discovered that the thrown flag caused Brown to suffer temporary blindness in one eye.

Brown filed a $200 million lawsuit against the NFL, claiming that his career was prematurely shortened. He eventually came to a settlement in 2002 that brought him at least $15 million. That settlement was based on the contingency that if he ever came back to the NFL, the league would receive half of his after-tax football income up to $1 million per season.

Brown did come back, signing with the Baltimore Ravens in 2003 and starting 34 games before his retirement in 2005. The NFL sued Brown in 2004 with the claim that he ignored requests to pay back the money.....snip~

:o Fricken 40 yrs old. No Cause Yet. I remember him from the flag issue. Think I seen that game. Guess he didn't mind being a Brown all his life. R.I.P. Mr. Brown.

That is a shame. 40 years old!

I too remember this guy. He got $25 Million originally from the NFL, so I would think that he wouldn't have run out of money and been living in bad conditions. The Inner Harbor is the only nice part of Baltimore, right? A lot of those big guys really put on the pounds after retiring from football but I don't know if that is the case here.

An invite to the White House is always a very cool thing even if it comes 25 years late.

On October 7, the 1985 Super Bowl Champion Chicago Bears will finally be honored at the White House. Their original celebration was called off after the space shuttle Challenger tragedy, and was never rescheduled in 1986.

Sadly, two key members of that great team, Walter Payton and Dave Duerson, will be unable to make it since both have passed away. Defensive coordinator Buddy Ryan's attendance is probably in doubt as well, as it has been announced he has cancer and was holding off treatment until after his sons (Rex Ryan and Rob Ryan) faced off in Week 1 of the 2011 NFL season. Another player who may not be able to make it is William “The Refrigerator” Perry, who is suffering from several health issues.

Yeah most teams don't win with a backup in. I'm a little surprised Philly rushed Vick back so quickly, normally when they get concussed like that there can be a residual effect. It might take less for him to get knocked out of this upcoming game than it would under normal circumstances. I don't bet like I used to but these are thoughts that used to go through my head.

In other news regarding the Patriots, the team finds itself very thin at a few positions for this week's game gainst the Buffalo Bills at tight end and tackle. The Patriots released tight end Rob Gronkowski earlier this week with only his brother Dan Gronkowski available with Aaron Hernandez out with a knee injury.

The Patriots also added safety Ross Ventrone, according to the Boston Globe, from the practice squad to the 53-man roster as Patrick Chung had surgery on his injured thumb.

Andre Carter told the Boston Herald that he thought he might have avoided the fine for his hit on San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers in last Sunday's game.

Carter said that when the FedEx envelope arrived the knew exactly what was in it. The only question was how much, which turned out to be $15,000.....snip~

Yep, they fined guys for hits on both Brady and Rivers. It's gotten so you can't breathe on the QB anymore. Ridiculous!

Bengals still suck:

The Cincinnati Bengals plan to play Jerome Simpson on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers despite excusing the receiver from practice on Thursday and Friday after a drug bust at his Kentucky home, team and league sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.

The organization believes Simpson, who has been active in community charities, should get the benefit of the doubt under the position of "innocent until proven guilty," the sources said.

The team has discussed releasing a statement regarding Simpson before the 1 p.m. ET game.

Police on Wednesday confiscated a package containing 2.5 pounds of marijuana shipped from California to Simpson's house in northern Kentucky.

Bengals tackle Anthony Collins also was present at the house, along with a woman who signed for the package.

Police also found 6 more pounds of pot inside the house as well as drug paraphernalia such as "packaging materials, scales and smoking devices," California Department of Justice spokeswoman Michelle Gregory told the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Most good QB's spend time with their lines. Get to know them work with them. Cutler takes no time. He says give him Bennett and he knows where to throw the ball. Looks like here is no camaraderie between Cutler and the Line. Nor is there really such with his recievers. There is Cutler and his Crutch. Bennett! So it's all about the paycheck.

Such a whiny lil' bitch:

""Looking at the replays, I'm on the ground every time, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't frustrated," Vick said in his postgame news conference. "The refs have got to do their jobs. And I mentioned it to the refs in training camp when I talked to them. I'm on the ground constantly, all the time. Every time I throw the ball, I'm on the ground. And I don't know why I don't get the 15-yard flags like everybody else does."

Vick broke his non-throwing hand on a borderline-late hit by Giants defensive tackle Chris Canty in the third quarter. Canty hit Vick, who had his hands up around his head, as Eagles' signal-caller threw a pass to receiver Jeremy Maclin for a 23-yard gain that moved the Eagles deep into Giants territory.

Eagles coach Andy Reid surmised that Vick may have been trying to protect his head in the wake of the concussion that knocked him out of last week's game in Atlanta. Vick said that didn't matter and that the hit was late and should have been called as such.

"I'm not blaming the officials," Vick said. "I'm not going to sit here and complain about the officials. I'm just going to talk about it and hope somebody takes notice.""

http://news.yahoo.com/ap-source-8-nfl-players-facing-suspension-164747861.html

NEW YORK (AP) — Eight players, including Tennessee's Kenny Britt, Tampa Bay's Aqib Talib and Cincinnati's Cedric Benson and Adam "Pacman" Jones, were subject to being suspended under the league's conduct policy for incidents during the lockout.

A person with knowledge of the names confirmed to The Associated Press on Sunday that those four are joined on the list by New England's Albert Haynesworth, Arizona's Clark Haggans, Brandon Underwood and Johnny Jolly, both formerly of Green Bay.

The NFL and the NFL Players Association previously agreed those eight could be disciplined, while 25 other players would not be.

It's been unclear whether the league can fine or suspend players for conduct during the lockout when there was no collective bargaining agreement. The NFLPA technically was not a union at that time, so its ability to agree to such measures is in question, too.

"We believe that no player should be subjected to discipline for incidents occurring during the lockout," NFLPA spokesman George Atallah told the AP on Sunday. "The NFL and the NFLPA signed a side letter to the CBA that resolved and absolved the overwhelming majority of players of conduct-related issues. We retain all of our rights and ability to challenge any player discipline related to incidents occurring during the lockout."....snip~

:o Sexual Assualt Charge on Haynesworth. Benson minor assualt charge. The Packers released that Branie guy. Think the league will take action? Looks like their Union spoke out.

She just loves baseball. I can't explain it. There is a big race for the last playoff spot between Boston and Tampa Bay so baseball fans are into it...me, I hate the Red Sox so I hope they lose every game. ;D I hate the Yankees too, just not as much.

:D

We already watch too much TV...I just took a magazine to bed. We randomly started getting Rolling Stone which is pretty crappy these days, but there was an interesting and long article about David Letterman's first year on TV in 1983 I think it was.

My OL had the Yankees Red Sox game on and it went 14 innings or something...we only have one TV and watching that with her made me sleepy myself.

I'm glad I started watching football again. It's something to have on all day. My roommate was furious about the Jets game and I will NEVER get like that but it's fun to watch.

:D That's funny...yeah I used to take it too seriously too. Alcohol can do that to you...

Football is like a battlefield...claiming the territory and moving the troops forward! Charge! Hehe...too bad my Chargers don't do much chargin these days.

We set up a big TV in the basement where the bar is but I'm hardly ever down there so I went down to BS for a bit. After all, it's my house. I should see all of it. The dude was livid. All kinds of N word comments about the Raiders :D I was starting to feel uncomfortable. No way I'll get like that.

Yeah I think she is more a Jeter girl than ARod, but she's cheering for the Red Sox actually.

So it turns out Vick's hand isn't even broken. It's just a bruise according to his coach. Waaah. :'( :'(

Earlier in the year, I'd say the girls/skins game would be a snoozer - not so much now, it might be good. Is Homo playing? I thought he lost a lung in the last game.

I'm on a football pool - same picks that I did here. Tanked, lots of upsets. How about those Bills? Steelers looked like they were going to blow the Colts out early on, but Ben got hammered - fucking O-line.

Saw the bolts won.

The Steelers game was great. I really enjoyed it.

That Bills game was way better though.

Coming back (two weeks in a row) on a what, 3 TD deficit to win?

The best part was when they called that TD back because that Bills RB knee was down. Belicheat was out there protesting for the call to award the Bills the TD - which would give him more time to mount a drive to tie the game back up.

When the TD was overturned, the Bills just killed the clock and kicked the winning FG.

Fucking awesome - the only thing better is watching the cheats sports tools pissing and whining about the game afterward.

I didn't get to see it but I guess the Bills will be a team to watch this year. I didn't realize they were 2-0 coming into yesterday's game. It would be interesting to see Buffalo finally get rid of that Superbowl legacy. They lost it 4 times, right?

Sweet Play Called Back: The Green Bay Packers, leading by 10, punted to the Chicago Bears with about a minute remaining. Devin Hester lined up on the Bears' left, and Green Bay punted away from him, to the Bears' right. Hester, by prearrangement, acted as if the punt was coming to him, looking skyward and stepping forward. This drew Green Bay defenders toward Hester; actually Johnny Knox was positioned on the right sideline to field the punt, and he ran it back 89 yards for a touchdown. The score was nullified by holding against Chicago, and that was that as far as the game was concerned. The play design was very clever -- put Hester on one side assuming the punter will kick to the opposite side, then have Hester pretend the ball is coming toward him while the guy on the other side fields the kick.

Love it!

Plus someone should remind this bozo he got a concussion from hitting his own teammate, not some late hit. Jackazz needs to remember it's a contact sport. He's a small guy compared to other QBs (Rivers, Big Ben, etc.) so it's going to mess him up more, plus he's going to get more punishment because he's always taking off running. Have I mentioned I'm not a fan? ;D
