This is the song that broke new ground in radio in the 1960's and is credited with leading to the type of harmony singing of the Beach boys and.....well wait for then next post to see who benefited most

And now we leap ahead to the British Invasion...

Herman' Hermits broke new ground taking a song by the cookies and turning into a number one hit...

One of her first creations and most frustrating for Carole King....

It was covered by everyone but she could not get a break herself...

It might as well rain until September

Wow, some really great music posted here (I'm a sucker for anything from the 60s, like Herman's Hermits!) IMO, the female singer from the 60s who really paved the way for those to follow was Dusty Springfield (Wishin' and Hopin', I Only Want To Be With You, You Don't Have To Say You Love Me, etc.) Now....I have no clue how to post a video in this forum. But I'm gonna jump in and see if this works:

Edit: HA! How about that....not a box of rocks after all!

This next song was the product of a song writer/singer combination similar to that of Elton John/Bernie Taupin, although Barry man, who wrote it never did meet the guy who turned it into one of the greatest love songs in history...

Soul and Inspiration is the Righteous Brothers at their best, thanks for posting that! Bill Medley is my hometownboy. Most biographies say he was born in Los Angeles....he wasn't; he was born in Santa Ana, same as me. And he graduated from Santa Ana High School, same as me (but he graduated over 10 years earlier!) I visited my old hometown this past spring and went to my alma mater....the auditorium is now named Bill Medley Auditorium. I know, TMI....but I thought it was cool!

I spent a couple of years on the road with them in the '90's.(The Radiators)
We went to Europe, too.

The Meters broke up but 2 of the original members, Art Neville (Neville Bros.) and George Porter jr. formed a band called the "funky Meters" with Brians Stoltz and Russell Batiste...Toured with them off and on since the '90's.
