I don't think I picked last week but I'm sucking hairy ass on the game thread over on the sports forum. Second to last place I think, I suck.

10/16 1:00 ET At Green Bay -15 St. Louis
Hard to pick against the undefeated SB champs.

10/16 1:00 ET At Pittsburgh -12 Jacksonville
Another "should win" for the Steelers, but we'll see.

10/16 1:00 ET Philadelphia -1 At Washington
Neither team's that good, but Philly has to win one sooner or later

10/16 1:00 ET At Detroit -4 San Francisco
Detroit's playing well but they're due for a correction.

10/16 1:00 ET At Atlanta -4 Carolina
Falcons are quietly having a decent season I think, but Carolina could bite them. Cam Newton's playing great for a rookie but I'll stick with Atlanta.

10/16 1:00 ET At Cincinnati -7 Indianapolis
Not sure how the Colts are 7 point road favorites against anyone.

10/16 1:00 ET At NY Giants -3 Buffalo
Almost a toss-up. Buffalo's got to go back to sucking sooner or later.

10/16 4:05 ET At Baltimore -7.5 Houston
I must be reading these spreads wrong, Houston can't be TD+ favorites at Baltimore.

10/16 4:05 ET At Oakland -6.5 Cleveland
Cleveland sucks, moreso on the coast.

10/16 4:15 ET At New England -7 Dallas
Fucking cheats.

10/16 4:15 ET New Orleans -4.5 At Tampa Bay
Seems easy enough.

10/16 8:30 ET At Chicago -3 Minnesota
Vikes blow.

We often get NY games when the Chargers aren't in the slot. Since the Jets will be on Monday we'll definitely get that. Shaping up to be a better weekend than most. The Jets HAVE to win that game and I expect they will. If they don't the wheels will definitely come off.

I feel badly for your roomie and NYJ fans in general. The Jets came so close the last couple of years and this could be the year it all unravels. The difference between the Jets and the Chargers is that the Jets coach turned a mediocre roster into overachievers, and the Chargers coach turned a talented team (when he took over, not anymore) into mediocrity. A good coach like a good QB is hard to find.

DAVIE, Fla. -- Miami Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall says he has been playing with his emotions in check and plans to show more passion Monday night against the New York Jets, with a goal of getting kicked out of the game in the second quarter.

When asked if he was joking, Marshall said no.

"I'm not joking. I'm serious," Marshall told the South Florida Sun Sentinel. "They're going to fine me. It's probably going to be like a $50,000 fine. But that quarter and a half that I'm out there, I'm going to play like a monster.

"I might get in a fight with Bart Scott. (Antonio) Cromartie, we pretty much matured our relationship and grew a little bit. We used to fight in Denver and San Diego. If that happens, it happens, so we'll see."

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Eagles-players-defend-asking-fans-to-take-down-a?urn=nfl-wp9494

Eagles players defend asking fans to take down anti-Reid sign.

People are way beyond hot about the 1-4 Eagles in Philadelphia, and it goes past the events on the field. When Eagles offensive linemen Evan Mathis(notes) and Jason Kelce(notes) went to the team's NovaCare Complex on Monday, just one day after the team's loss to the Buffalo Bills, a group of fans had a banner that read, "Andy, the Time's .... to Go," an obvious shot at head coach Andy Reid. The thing is, the fans were holding up the sign across the street from the Eagles' facility, which put them in a public area, and not the team's private property.

Unmoved by that fact, Mathis and Kelce approached the fans and asked them to remove the banner. The players have said that they did not threaten the fans; they merely asked them to take the sign down, and the fans complied. From that point on, Mathis and Kelce have been hammered non-stop on Philly talk radio, which is one environment in which an excuse to bash everything in sight is usually not needed. When something is served up like the hanging slider the two Eagles pitched, all bets are off.

I understand Kelce's and Mathis' point of view on this — it doesn't help anyone to see a sign like that when you're going into your place of business. But it's just as easy to contend that if the Eagles players actually think one sign could possibly create or foster a divide in the team, the team's problems go a lot further than what's on the field.....

Looks Like the team's problems go a lot further. ;D

Bears should try to get this guy - they need WRs for JC!!

The Broncos have engaged multiple teams in trade discussions regarding Pro Bowl wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, according to a report in the Denver Post.

The report, citing NFL sources, said the Broncos are seeking a third-, fourth- or fifth-round pick for Lloyd. One of the sources told the newspaper that the Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans were among "three or four" teams that have expressed interest.

Lloyd, who led the NFL with 1,448 receiving yards last season, leads the Broncos this season with 283 yards on 19 receptions. Denver still has young receivers in Eric Decker, Demaryius Thomas and Eddie Royal.

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP)—Chicago Bears defensive end Julius Peppers(notes) is doubtful for Sunday’s home game against the Minnesota Vikings.....snip~

This article said doubtful. But now it is confirmed Peppers will not play. Espn was broadcasting it. Bears are taking out Merriweather who was fined 25k for a hit as well as his screw-ups. Plus they are taking out Major Wright. Chris Harris and DJ Moore will play safeties.

The Key to Peppers working would have been for the Bears to get a 300lb DT to play right next to him. Then a good rusher from the other end. Nick Roach is old for the other LB spot and is not an impact player. Urlacher is to concerned about dropping back in pass patterns rather than plugging the middle. Or putting Pressure on the QB. Not to mention he was always light as MLB. Briggs is not perfroming to the best of his ability either.

Plus now they will face the top rusher in the league. Peterson! It's not looking good. Many have known it was coming and when it did it wont look pretty. IMO DeAngelo, Lovie, and all his losing Former Head Coaches, has never been worth the money. For one brief moment in the limelight. They have destroyed the Bears Organization. No recruitment of Talent. No future building blocks. Nothing to build on. Tapping old players and coaches that would have been out of job and sitting home somewheres. Martz knows nothing about Smashmouth football and wants to fly high with the west Coast offense.

Forte has proved that smashmouth can be played. The offensive line is good enough to help him break those runs off. Plus he can catch out of the backfield. Althought he does have to remember to block first before breaking to pattern. Something he tends to forget.

6 Games in and no adjustment to put Cutler into the Shotgun to buy him a bit more time. That is a coaching mistake. To have Cutler take mostly all calls under center. Cutler would be better having the run to rely on and he definately needs more time. since all know now in the NFL is that to take Cutler out of his game. All they have to do is blitz and knock him down. Again another Coaching mistake to not take the pressure off of Cutler by chip pass left chip pass right. Sweep left sweep right. Swing pass left Swing pass right. Notice how that lateral movement slows that pass rush down. Also there is the hurry up offense in not allowing that 3rd down defensive adjustment by opposing teams. None of which has been employed.

Yeah the home field advantage for the night game is something too.

What are the biggest differences between last year's NFC runner up and this year? Kreutz is gone but seems they are playing under their potential. They are not a SB team but they should be better than this -- then again the schedule has been brutal, you gotta admit.

Check this out - Pete Carroll is recruiting Lebron:

Obviously, it's all very unlikely to happen, though. You'll notice that LeBron has yet to commit to anything, either because this is just a couple of guys goofing off on Twitter, or because LeBron has to check and see if playing football for the Seahawks would be OK with Dwyane Wade. Or maybe LeBron is going to wait until after Week 9, so he doesn't have to go back to Dallas.

OK I put it all on the Dog Killers...they should be able to beat the Sexy Rexys by three. If they lose then I have to think the players hate Reid and want him gone, but that wouldn't make sense because he went out on a limb for the Dog Killer. NFL Psychology ;D

Say what.....Naggers. Puuleeeezeee. ::)

JC Penny is nothing more than a functional QB.....not even in the top 20 in the League. Notice how much more effective he is when the Bears run the ball. Moreover I already admited much of it was on the Coaches. They did nothing to prevent any of it. No shot gun, no running the ball, no lateral plays to slow down any pass rush. Still Cutler did turn the ball over at least once that I saw. So far 6 games 8 turn-overs.

I did notice how all mentioned that Cutler does have a habit of holding the ball away from his body. Which makes it easier to knock loose.

Still Da Bears won. Plus they did keep the league rusher down to a bare minimum. Seems after that one game where Peterson ran for like 200 yards on Da Bears. Ever since that first year Peterson was with Minnesota. Da Bears have been able to keep him in check. I am happy with the win. Like how the Bears toughened up on the run.

But the psychological game Lovie thought he was playing. Wasnt. The Viking trained just as they would if Peppers would play. Which he did. I thought DJ Moore did a good job at CB. The rookie safety looks fair. Da Bears might have to go to rotating their defensive backs for the rest of this year.

Still they were putting 8 in the box to stop the run. If they are up against a premeire QB. That wont work. They will get picked apart in the secondary. So the assessment on Lovie and DeAngelo is dead on. Also on what is going on with Da Bears as a team.
BTW D.....Cutler since coming to Da Bears. Has thrown more interceptions in two years than any other QB in the league. Thats more than even the shittiest QBs in all of the NFL. Which that also does not include fumbles, and in Cutlers case all the tumbles. ;)
