Bruce Campbell, a living legend of film and television, was in town last night, signing his second book ('Hail to the Chin') and emceeing a live trivia competition called "Last Fan Standing" at a local high school. It was a lot of fun.

I asked Bruce what the coolest thing was that he'd saved from his movies - props that he'd kept as souvenirs, that sort of thing. He told me that his brother had the shotgun from the original Evil Dead. ("Not because he liked the movie. He just likes guns.") He said that he wasn't a big collector, but he had saved some "strange, obscure little things that only mean something to me", like a device that pumps blood from a vampire movie he'd been in. He signed an 8x10 head shot for me, with the inscription "Stay groovy!"

I met my teen aged motorcycle idol, John Penton several years ago at the Daytona 200 motorcycle race. Penton was one of the greats in enduros and European style Trials riding. He started on German motorcycles, NSU's I think but eventuallly developed his own line of off road motorcycles.

The thing that really impressed me when I finally met him was that I was at least 3 or 4 inches taller than he was and I am not a very tall person!
