If you make more than $200K single, or $250K married, you get to pay a surtax that equals 3.8% on income over $200K. There is another surtax of .9% on "high income" earners.

This does affect me. As a reservist I can work for money or just retirement points. The retirement points is much more flexible and I can do it at home (correspondence courses). If I did the money option, I would pay more taxes. Of course I would make more money- but I would lose some weekends..., these taxes just make my decision easier. Galt out.

According to Picasso, every child is an artist. Continuing as an artist into adulthood is the problem, he said.

Apparently, every child tends to graduate from art into economics.

[I have a pink belt in economics.] ;>)

So the new taxes serve as a disincentive to work which would result in the generation of new wealth. This is the point of the Laffer Curve.
