Texas gun owner shoots, kills man trying to rob him and family at Popeyes, report says (http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/12/07/texas-gun-owner-shoots-kills-man-trying-to-rob-him-and-family-at-popeyes-report-says.html)

A father in Texas who was dining with his family Wednesday night reportedly fatally shot the robber who threatened them during their dinner.

Carlos Molina, 32, was eating dinner with his family at a Popeyes restaurant in San Antonio when Andres Herrera, 19, walked in and demanded his property, Fox 29 San Antonio reported.

Molina told the would-be robber that he didn’t have any money because he used it to purchase food, and then reportedly asked Herrera if he would let his family go.

Herrera, according to WOAI-TV, told Molina that he and his family could leave. Molina's wife and two children had left but two of Molina’s other children were walking out of the bathroom when Herrera pulled a gun on them.

At one point, Herrera also pointed a gun at the restaurant counter and yelled at the store’s manager to stop running.

Molina then pulled out his legally-owned gun and shot Herrera “several times.” Officers reportedly said the father shot in defense of a third person.

The scene of the shooting is under investigation.

If those are the facts he will be no-billed if the gun fanatics send it to a grand jury. I hope he is a member of the Texas shield program. I am.

Ya can use deadly force in Texas for a third party. Clear and settle law.

According to a TPF liberal (he knows who he is) Shooting to defend a third person is not "defensive gun use".

Imagine that, we are told if the gun is not in the hand of a "trained professional" it is likely to cause more deaths.

Officers say Molina is a licensed gun owner and they believe he opened fire in defense of a third person.

“He really saved the day and protected a lot of people today,” San Antonio Police Department Captain Michael Starnes said.

You really have to dig for such events on the news, national and even local.

Such events don't support the civilian disarmament, narrative.

It is settled under common law. The problem is that some jurisdictions have changed that and adopted duty to retreat requirements.

FATHER SHOOTS GUNMAN THREATENING FAMILY AT A SAN ANTONIO POPEYE’S (http://spectrumlocalnews.com/tx/san-antonio/news/2017/12/07/father-shoots-gunman-threatening-family-at-a-san-antonio-popeye-s)

...According to police, the father told Herrera he spent his money on dinner for his family. The father then asked the man if his family could leave because they didn’t have anything he wanted.

Herrera then turned toward the restaurant counter and yelled at customers, pointing his handgun at them.

Once the father’s family made it safely out of the restaurant, the father confronted the suspect. As the suspect continued to threaten the employees, the father took out his own handgun and shot the suspect multiple times, killing him.

The father is a licensed handgun carrier and will not face any charges, according to San Antonio police.

MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO POPEYE'S ROBBERY (http://spectrumlocalnews.com/tx/san-antonio/news/2017/12/09/man-arrested-in-connection-to-popeye-s-robbery)

San Antonio police have arrested a man they believe is connected to the robbery at Popeye’s Fried Chicken.

Police believe 18-year-old Trevon Atkinson was the getaway driver during the robbery on Thursday that left one man dead.

On Friday police stopped atkinson during a routine traffic stop. He was then brought into the robbery unit for questioning and eventually told police he was the driver. Atkinson is charged with aggravated robbery.

During the robbery on Thursday, police say 19-year-old Andres Herrera walked into the restaurant wearing a hoodie and a mask. A father who was having dinner with his family shot and killed Herrera.

"These gentlemen entered a Popeye’s Chicken during normal business hours with people inside the store,” Carlos Ortiz with the San Antonio Police Department said. “ [A] Pretty bold act when you're committing armed robberies. I think it was a matter of time that if they weren't stopped, someone else was probably was gonna be hurt."

The man who killed Herrera won't face any charges.

I'm glad that the idea of a "good guy with a gun" is just a myth. Lol.

Good job to the Dad though.
