Actress Cynthia Nixon officially announces that she'll be challenging Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the democratic primary for the Governorship this year.

ALBANY — Actress Cynthia Nixon on Monday made it official — she is challenging Gov. Cuomo in this year’s Democratic primary.
“I love New York, and today I’m announcing my candidacy for governor,” Nixon said on Twitter. The message was accompanied by a more-than-two-minute video.
“Something has to change,” the “Sex and the City” star says in the slickly produced spot. “We want our government to work again on health care, ending mass incarceration, fixing our broken subway.”
And while she never mentioned Cuomo by name in the video, she took a shot at the two-term Democratic governor by saying, “We are sick of politicians who care more about headlines and power than they do about us.”

Curious to see how she does. Polls have her way down now but Sep is a long way off. Cuomo could be vulnerable on a few issues. I also would think she would get an endorsement from DeBlasio.

Is Governor Cuomo losing it? (https://nypost.com/2018/03/19/is-governor-cuomo-losing-it/)

Is Gov. Cuomo really that worried by Cynthia Nixon — or has he just lost it?

Even before the “Sex and the City” star announced Monday that she’ll primary him this year (https://nypost.com/2018/03/19/cynthia-nixon-announces-bid-for-governor/), Cuomo launched a mad dash for attention. With unfortunate results.

On Saturday, he ditched the State Police, whom governors have long accompanied in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade behind the mayor and the NYPD, and stole the spot at the head of the line.
That meant snubbing the “Fighting Irish” honor guard — and 167 years of tradition. As James MacGuire noted in Friday’s Post, soldiers from the legendary 69th Regiment of the New York State National Guard, offspring of the Irish Brigade, have led the parade since 1851.

But hey, who was going to stop him? By all accounts, his staff is terrified.

Then this gov blamed President Trump for the New York City Housing Authority crisis (https://nypost.com/2018/03/18/cuomo-says-de-blasio-hasnt-ended-the-tale-of-two-cities/), though he has little to do with it: “Come visit public housing in your hometown of New York and you tell me if you made American great again.” Huh?

He bashed Mayor de Blasio on NYCHA, too, threatening to declare a state of emergency. He even reclaimed the mayor’s “Tale of Two Cities” shtick, pointedly noting that it was coined by his dad, Gov. Mario Cuomo.

The lunacy may have started last week, when the gov responded to the corruption conviction of his former right-hand man, Joe Percoco (https://nypost.com/2018/03/13/ex-cuomo-aide-convicted-on-corruption-charges/), by claiming his own name was never mentioned at the trial. Oops: The New York Times found it 136 times in trial transcripts — over 1,500 if you count his office, staff, etc.

We get it: Cuomo is tarnished by the Percoco case, with more to come in the Buffalo Billion corruption trial. He knows New Yorkers blame him for last year’s subway horrors. And he’s certain that de Blasio is quietly helping Nixon (https://nypost.com/2018/03/06/cynthia-nixon-is-quietly-working-on-her-run-against-cuomo/).

But the Siena College poll has him ahead of Nixon 66-19, and he’s got $30 million in his campaign warchest.
The right approach to Nixon, sir, is to relax — heck, pour yourself a cosmo......snip~
