I was watching a PBS show a while back. I think it was before the quarantine. Probably around the time there were those protests in Charlotte. Anyway, there was this white historian on a panel discussing the removal of Confederate statues. He was trying to explain the context of the statues and what the intention was to a progressive and mostly black audience that didn't want to hear it. I felt bad for the guy. He went to great pains to acknowledge their feelings and said that the goal of racial equality was largely disregarded but made it clear that the intent was to create or reinvigorate a national consciousness among white Americans.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.
