I do not believe the Texas grid is connected to the east nor the west grids. There was a plan, long ago to connect it to the west grid. I don't believe it ever went anywhere.

This is the failed leadership of the McConnell, Ryan, McCarthy era. I see them in corporations all the time. They are so afraid to get fired that they put off decisions until the last second instead of just growing a set and doing the right thing. That is why we keep going backward.

The GOP needs a kick in the ass. This has to be pushed to a point that they have to react. We keep going left. Only Trump and Reagan pushed back. The Bush duo were neocons and harmed the Republican party greatly. Luxury taxes? Medicare Part D? Both leading us into wars and debt?

Threats of revolt may be needed. I hear Cruz voters saying "let's not do anything", "let's just pass the problems on".
I have never heard any on the conservative side say “let’s not do anything.”

As far as the ACA goes, seeing that the Republicans eliminated the public mandate, it is toothless. It’s voluntary. That is a good thing.

Right now the Republicans are in the minority. They can’t resume construction of a barrier on the southern border.

    I hope no states secede.

It isn't the states that are messed up, it's the leftists. I would like to see all the leftists secede by getting their butts out of my country. We need to put the "United" back in United States.

Right up to the Civil War, secession was taught at the US Military Academy as an ethical resolution to differences between the states and the federal government that could not be resolved otherwise.

I personally believe the states have the right to secede if that is the course of action their people choose. However, the Supreme Court has said otherwise. They made that clear in Texas v White. The federal government made it pretty clear in 1861 that they would not tolerate it.

Realistically, talk of secession is something you would expect from somebody who is totally out of touch with reality and probably has nothing to lose by encouraging it. Contrary to what Texas and California like say about their economies, neither would last long if they were cut off from the rest of the states and anyone who thinks a bunch of other states are going to secede just because Texas does isn't thinking it through and looking at the long term consequences.

The way to fix the country is through the legislative process and more importantly, citizen involvement. If the citizenry stands up and say "I will not comply" when the government does something something stupid and/or unconstitutional, and does it en masse, even the career politicians will have to stand up and take notice.
If the problems were fixable, why haven't they been fixed?

When Republicans had the majority in House and Senate they did nothing. Democrats in the minority stopped everything except for things that benefitted Democrats. When Republicans are in the minority Democrats still get their legislation passed.

Trying to conflate the two just proves you don't understand either of them.

We lost the House and Senate because the GOP Congress did nothing.
McConnell and Ryan let Obama Care pass. Literally.
Now McConnell is using Cornyn to let Gun Control pass.
If you are happy with that then you are just aiding the left wing movement.

It shows just how limited your thinking is.
We did not defeat the Taliban but we did arm them reasonably well. Why couldn't we defeat the Taliban? They maintained the support of the populace. Do you think Texans fighting in Texas for Texan independence will be any different?

There will be plenty of countries willing to arm Texans in their fight against tyranny.
