States sue telecom of making billions of robocalls to people on Do Not Call Registry

Why is the federal FCC or DOJ not persuing this? It is, after all, the federal Do Not Call list.

States sue telecom company accused of making billions of robocalls to people on Do Not Call Registry

Attorneys general in states across the U.S. joined in a lawsuit Tuesday against a telecommunications company that is accused of making 7.5 billion illegal robocalls to millions of people on the Do Not Call Registry.

The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Phoenix, Arizona, against Avid Telecom, its owner Michael Lansky and Stacey Reeves, its vice president.

It alleges that they violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Telemarketing Sales Rule and other federal and state telemarketing and consumer laws. The suit seeks a jury trial to determine damages. ...

    Firing squad seems appropriate IMO.

House flippers have been very annoying lately. I'm going to start sending those $#@!s bills, as state law here allows charges of up $3,000 per call. Haven't heard of anybody actually collecting under that law yet, but it's a very good idea.

Personally, I let my Pixel 6a screen unknown callers. It answers, asks the caller the purpose of the call, and 99 times out of 100 they hang up. If it's important, they record a message and I can return the call.

    What app is that?

I don't answer unidentified calls. If they don't leave a message I approve of I just block the number.

Yea, I had to toy with settings a while. But it works well for me.

The number of political PAC calls a day are getting ridiculous.

I'm not going to give to any group over the phone. Send me something in the mail because I have lots of questions before I give, due to scammers.
    Let's go Brandon !!!

I feel ya on the house flippers. It was relatively quiet over the winter, but as soon as spring hit, two or three calls a day, post cards in the mail, even a flyer left on the door.

I actually let one of those calls going a step further. Apparently the game is to put your house under contract, make payments to YOU for the first year or two, then pay the balance. Nope, not happening. I could see how that might be attractive to someone in financial straits but for someone whose not, nope.
