It is a catch 22. Mentally ill people in this country are ignored at every level until they do something that gets media attention. You can be mad as a hatter and pass a background check if you haven't had a major episode yet. Casting everyone that owns firearms as a lunatic is probably comforting if you live where that basic right is denied so it is easy to understand why so many people are in favor of disarming the U.S. Either way our initial ideas of liberty and freedom have been getting legislated away since the beginning and I have no doubt that the second amendment will fall.
My beliefs are a distillation of what I was taught as a child and what I observe as an adult.

If I made the insinuation that she was a moron I did not mean too! I would agree with you there.

We don't need to re hash all of the quotes and debates that show that the founding fathers meant this as an individual right, you have never once been able to challenge that information! Though I will agree that there are several modern quotes that are false, we have the notes and writings from he continental congress that show this was meant to be an individual right.

Now saying that through constitutional amendment that can be changed

Or it could be that we have between 15 and 20 million new gun owners in the USA

You are most likely correct, but at least it will be a fall that the Government has to take by force, and afterward the liberals will be able to see what they have created

The primary purpose of the second amendment was to insure a central government was not able to take over the various states by force. A standing army was a big, but not only, argument for the second amendment. It was to allow the states to have a well regulated militia, and who are the militia? The people of course. It was not meant that only state governments could have guns but that the citizens of that state would have the ability to come to the aid of the state if, as happened in 1861 the federal government launched an attack against their sovereignty.

The absolute truth is the second amendment has nothing to do with hunting or target shooting. The second amendment was to insure we could defend ourselves individually against tyrannical forces. And frankly, that need for defense continues to exist. Government does not "give" us rights. Its purpose is to protect the God Given rights we already have by reason of being human. A strong civilian defense insures that same government that is sworn to protect us does not decide we don't need those rights.

The only change I would sanction in the second amendment is a rewriting that states "The Rights of the Individual to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed by Congress, The President or any other Federal agency on the planet."

    Background checks are already required.
Democrats believe that "politics is war by other means." And they are at war with America, with common sense and even common decency. Those who would mount an effective opposition had better have a high tolerance for slime, slander and abuse.

Universities are filled with radical left-wing loons like this.

One good thing is that they rarely venture beyond campus into the real wprld.

Oh, and I don't own a gun. I also don't have a wife. I don't necessarily object to you having either one or both.

Let us hope she can get all 57 states to ratify it. Huh?
