Most "internet celebrities" are useless people who famous for being famous, nothing more.
Take a look at these "celebrities" and ask yourself one question... Would they be of any use to you if you were crashed on a desert island or if the zombie apocalypse happened tomorrow? The answer to that question for 99.999% of them is "No". Most of them wouldn't be good for anything except to sell them for a box of ammo.

Actually CC has a point. People in general are pretty infatuated with celebs . That's why they sign autographs, sell expensive hoodies with their number on them, sell cars etc. If the public wasn't a bit obsessive about celebrities TMZ does not exist and ESPN only has one channel.
For whatever reason our society has been trying to establish entertainers as new royalty to replace the monarchy we drove out. Probably since we drove them out.
The difference with CCitizen is that he admits it.
Having said that I think the tendency should be limited.

There are some who became semi-famous through platforms like youtube and now Tik Tok. I recall Justin Bieber was one back in the day I can actually name, but I am not current on this stuff. I also understand some otherwise useless human beings can make quite a living off youtube (with commercials) if they have a large enough loyal idiot following...............
