The Donbas republics seceded after the national govt was overthrown.
The Uke govt forces then lost a war to forcibly retake these lands, after which they began firing artillery into the seceded lands, to punish the civilians after losing to the militia forces in those regions.

Right before the recent Russian operation to protect these small republics, the Ukes used an armed drone to destroy an artillery emplacement that was protecting the seceded republics, after which the President of Ukraine suggested he was seeking Nuclear Weapons..

Reagan armed one side in a civil war. He did it to keep communists out of the Americas. It is irrelevant to this discussion.
