U.S. Gov't to round up 1,000 wild horses, sell many to be slaughtered

Many people may not be aware of this, but many wild horses around our nation are being rounded up and slaughtered. The horses are being slaughtered and it is said lands are being used for ranchers, and mining. All credit for this thread goes to Orion Rules. Thank you for this information.

Bill HR961 was introduced into congress on February 4 2019. To prevent Horse slaughter plants from opening in the US, and to stop the export of live American horses across the border for slaughter. https://www.speakupforhorses.org/

    The law is being broken.

THE WILD FREE-ROAMING HORSES AND BURROS ACT OF 1971 (PUBLIC LAW 92-195)

§1331. Congressional findings and declaration of policy Congress finds and declares that wild free-roaming horses and burros are living symbols of the historic and pioneer spirit of the West; that they contribute to the diversity of life forms within the Nation and enrich the lives of the American people; and that these horses and burros are fast disappearing from the American scene. It is the policy of Congress that wild free-roaming horses and burros shall be protected from capture, branding, harassment, or death; and to accomplish this they are to be considered in the area where presently found, as an integral part of the natural system of the public lands.

The government doesn't follow the law. It does what it wants.

Wild horses removed from the range were transported to the Palomino Valley Off-Range Wild Horse and Burro Corrals in Reno, to be readied for the BLM's wild horse and burro adoption and sale program. Wild horses not adopted or sold will be placed in long-term pastures where they'll be humanely cared for and retain their "wild" status and protection under the 1971 Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act. https://www.nevadaappeal.com/news/lo...her-suspended/
Any government bureaucrat can read and understand the code in this story for slow torturous slaughter outside Chihuahua for sport. You just have to be able to read between the lines, which you can, JAPerson. And if you can't, just make $#@! up.

Every now and then around here there are advertisements for wild mustangs. If you have the facilities to keep and care for horses, you can get one for free.

If I had the property to support a horse, I'd do that.

I don't know about free, there's usually an adoption fee of 125.00 or so.

Unless, there's just so many of them, they are actually giving them away.

If that's the case, I hope they're still checking out the people who want one, a mustang, fresh off of the land, is a whole different process, handling wise, than a domestic born horse.... amateur horse owners shouldn't take it on.

Around here I have heard that they are free- but the standards to get approved are very strict.

This is a yearly thinning of the feral (not wild) horse population.
It's ok if you disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

It is too the wild horse population. Whether feral or wild, it is all the same. Such trauma applied, such callous procedures of don't care, as many as fast as some cattle ranchers who also play a role in making off with hefty welfare subsidies for growing cattle destined for China...

The horses eat different grass from cattle, as they are kidnapped off public lands, separated from their families and the social life they had making families, then cruelly penned, treated like chattel, sold for next to nothing, sent to slaughter for their adoptable homes.
