The British ISIL terrorist known as Jihadi John was targeted and killed by a US drone in Raqqa, Syria. Good job.

At what point do we stop celebrating victories that really mean nothing? As if killing an ISIL member that has a nickname and a position of power stops the next guy from stepping into those shoes?

So what can the USA do to get out of this cycle?

Well we can openly state that if ISIL wants to be an entity it's their call. They just can't attack the USA or our allies. Then we again openly state that our interest in the Middle East is commerce and the support of our allies. We want to trade and we want to maintain good relations with those that have good relations with us.

The first is easy. ISIL is done for... They have gone from being a force to be recognized with to a terrorist organization such as Al Queda or Hamas. Let's send the message that if they want to stop getting whacked out they join the 21st Century. Commerce. Let's give them another avenue. I mean we do it for so many despotic regimes why not them? Saudi Arabia...one of the most horrific regimes on Earth we trade with to an incredible extent. Oil, weapons, etc.

Let ISIL, AQ, Hamas gain popular support in a way that doesn't include rockets, car bombs, suicide bombers and the USA will recognize them as an entity to not destroy rather that they gained popular support and as such an entity to be respected. Naturally the citizens of the USA would have to be convinced but that isn't hard to do... After all... Saudi Arabia.

If Iran were to stop chanting "Death to America" maybe Americans wouldn't be so inclined to deploy fleets and more than willing to level the country. Them saying they are going continue their anti-American agenda because the USA "can't afford a war" with Iran is truly ignorant. War isn't bad for our economy. Trump knows that. The Iranians don't for whatever reason.

These groups need to extend an olive branch... Otherwise we are happy to buy smart bombs, continue the military industrial complex which just so happens to drive a good portion of our economy.

These fringe groups need to win over the "hearts and minds" of Americans. They do that and they have a good chance at being relevant.
I find your lack of faith...disturbing...

ISIL's goal is to covert people, or kill them.
