Is that possible? I suspect it is.
Haha, I see you hate Win10 as much as I do.
There are 2 really good product key programs. One is by Magic Jelly Bean called keyfinder. I know it sounds like a silly name but it's for real and it works.
The other is called belarc advisor. It goes into much more detail and is also free for personal use.

If I ever do go to Win10 it will probably be a Dell Business class computer. They are a bit more expensive but don't come with the add-on foo foo advertising junk that you get from a Best Buy or similar box store outlet.
That still won't stop the inherent spying that Win10 does but at least makes it easier to concentrate on that rather than fighting all the free bee crap and unnecessary junk.

I ordered by new HP W10 from HP and it did not come with a lot of bloatware. That is why I didn't go to the local mega computer store 2 miles away. And I was surprised that I got it in 2 days. The last time I bought an HP it took them 2-3 weeks to deliver it. That was back in 2011.

Bloatware...I like that. I always called it foo foo.

I've always found that ordering a new pc directly from the manufacturer was a better option.

I would love to transfer all the contents of them onto this new drive, but am wondering if there will be any conflicts with seeing anything from a 32 bit system to a 64 bit system like Windows 7 or 10. I have one laptop each with 7 and 10 on them.

I was able to transfer my stuff off of a Vista machine to this 7 machine successfully using thumb drives.

My main workhorse is this machine with 7 on it, but that newer one with 10 is kinda nice, but came with tons of junk of which I still have not been able to get rid of 100%. It seems the 10 machines are for entertainment purposed only. They are full of so much junk files and programs.

...but it does have the USB 3.0 ports this drive says it needs.

    What say the resident geeks?

These guys are making life hard on you.

Listen to me: Drag your files up to a cloud, Google Docs, or Microsoft OneDrive, or whatever. Then when you are on your new computer just open them from the cloud as needed. That should work.

And don't hang on to old crap that long anymore, I mean old machines. Drop a few hundreds bucks every two years or so on computer. Don't be a penny pincer.

    Thank you for the help.

As far as newer things go, some older stuff is much better than the newer stuff, but not generally.
When i hike in the wilderness I DO NOT use flint & steel and charcloth. I use wind-proof lighters and BICs.

However, this new computer I got is full of all kinds of marketing junk, games, and on-line crap I will never use.

I use my computer to write with, do design work with, send emails, download trailcam videos, and look at dirty pictures. That is all.
I have no use for all that other crap they loaded down that computer with.
This is why it is still in the office and will remain unused until I can take it to a computer shop and have all that crap removed.
Then I will never buy a new one again.

With this new solid state drive I can put the whole world on it and use the new one, once it has been cleansed.

Thank you again. Your advice was simple and easy.
