'Even a Vaccine Won’t Erase this Pandemic'

'And other tough, contrarian messages from virologist William Haseltine. We ignore them at our peril, he says.'

"... a vaccine will not likely end this pandemic for several reasons.

For starters the most affected population, people over the age of 60, are the most difficult population to develop vaccines for. As the immune system ages, the effectiveness and duration of vaccines wanes with it. “It is very difficult to develop a vaccine for older people,” notes Haseltine."

Given the increasing number of hospitalizations as America and the world reopen, masks will be a good option going forward. We may be wearing them for longer than we'd like.

I agree it is more serious than the flu. But not to a large degree.

It appears to be a combined spending, as local, state, and federal share in expenses.

The WHO has been criticized but overall their work is helpful in combating this virus.
