It appears to be in the national interest of China's neighbors to be wary of China and maintain good relations with the US. Talking about the US won't help allay the anxieties China's behavior has caused. nor will it do much to "close the potential gaps where the US can get the pointy end of the wedge in". It only helps matters.

That depends entirely on which version of the events you believe . The new Chinese law for Hong Kong is nothing like what the US media or politicians are saying , or trying to.....I think it's more about Trump's campaign strategy to water down the problems at home and keep people focused on China .....it also looks reasonable to assume that both Taiwan and Hong Kong will retain their high levels of autonomy under the Chinese proposals , as long as the calls for total independence from China are ended.
What unipolar world? That ship sailed. The global international order is now more like pre-WWI great power competition.
Great powers are not necessarily paranoid, although some (China) may be to a certain extent. They can do more on the international stage because they have less constraints on their power than lesser nations do.

Maybe ......I think the US is quite paranoid about any country that can challenge them in any way . It's the downside of declaring yourself exceptional . Russian military is basically on par with the US , and China has eclipsed the US economically......it seems to be a pride thing with Americans .
These talking points are lame. Why is your government so bad at this? Do you seriously expect anyone...seriously anyone including you...to believe that China's tensions with her neighbors are due toTrump's campaign strategy? China persuades more by fear and duplicity than this nonsense. Wow
