I don't know if there's any validity to it, but I remember reading something years ago about Remar that suggested that just when he was coming up, the producers and casting directors were turning increasingly to more "ethnic" actors, like Hoffman and Pacino, and away from the traditional square-jawed WASP types. I don't recall details, and again I don't know whether there's any truth to it, but that's one theory.

I dont see hoffman as ethnic, but there was a period where italian actors were pursued.
It was most likely because italian was the largest ethnic group in the country at that time, that time has long passed.

If you like good rocking music and a late teen based story, this movie works well.

Travolta was a much better actor in his early career, it shows with his fine dance skills added.

Just watched it with my 13 year old daughter last week, she liked it.
