You could put the paperbacks in a box by the curb, marked FREE. Perhaps your neighbors will take some of them away.

My youngest, who lives in Maryland, discovered a phone app where local people post things they just want to give away, and you just go pick them up. He recently got a big, brand new play structure for his kitty, some other nice pieces of furniture and several boxes of something like 500 music CDs - good stuff, too, not junk. He's working from home these days, so he has plenty of time to listen to music.

Oh, I'm sure they would - especially this week, when the city is doing the quarterly bulk trash pickup in my neighborhood. Anything of any value whatever gets picked up within a few hours at most.

Many streets or neighborhoods have Facebook pages - sometimes our neighbors will indicate they have something they don't want and let everyone know, in case someone has a use for it.

Hospitals also take used books to put them in various places for patients and guests to use, although I expect you would have to wait for the COVID hysteria to die down before trying that.

Currently going through shelves and boxes of books, in the family room, bedrooms, garage, basement - tens of thousands of books, the accumulation of the last fifty years - attempting to seriously reduce their number and the space they take up. Would love to have a big sale in the front yard - just a dollar or two for hardcovers and maybe a quarter for paperbacks - but the Zombie Apocalypse prevents it. I'd donate them to the Arizona Humane Society thrift shops, but they stopped taking and selling books a couple of years ago. Some of the more interesting and collectible books I'll probably end up listing on eBay if I decide to get back into selling on that platform. I'm finding some amazing things - books I haven't seen in twenty years and had forgotten I owned.

I often donate books that begin taking over my shelves, dressers, desk, etc., to the local jail. I figure if the inmates can become interested in something other than their sorry situations, maybe they'll feel better and behave better.

Well, obviously I survived the procedure. Spent a long time in recovery this time - I was reportedly "combative" when I came out of the anesthesia, so they had to give me three different benzos to calm my ass down. I don't know what that was all about, as I have no memory of it. Fake news, no doubt. Taking it very easy today, plan to just lie around with the dogs and cats and watch t.v. and nap. When I nap on the sofa, my Gemma thinks it's funny 'cause everyone knows sofas are for dogs to sleep on. She comes over wagging her tail with a big grin on her face, then she lies down on the floor to guard me.

A farmer friend just got home from a delivery and showed us a photo of a big sign on Virginia Rt 29 that is entitled...IDIOTS OF VIRGINIA and then it lists Northam, Fairfax, and Other prominent mini tyrant virginia democrats. Not seeing anything online about it.. naturally.
